Why???   :headscratch:

I don't have a cluttered up mess of spawn points and intersecting radar rings in high density locations any more.  When I zoom out I have instant awareness of what's going on unlike before.

An exceptional improvement.

Sounds like only 2 REAL issues.

1. If many radar are dead is difficult to see icons Sector counters and icons.

2. Color blind users are not seeing the red black change.

HiTech

I might add the darkness of the coverage circles contributes to masking the details of the underlying terrain (the shading of the physical relief that shows hills, etc).   When the coverage circles overlap its twice as bad; reducing the opacity of the coverage circles would help some.   A low level of shading probably goes a long way.

I'm guessing its probably very difficult if not impossible to have the shaded areas not add together where they overlap.

I found the same thing as Vraciu - zooming all the way out is now workable, and you can get a clearer picture of whats going on across the map.  I was watching in tower yesterday and saw the Orange country attacking Yellow and taking down the radars one by one as they made a push into Yellow's territory.  I'd never sat and watched the whole map before like that - it was just too cluttered when you zoomed out.  The fading field labels are a pretty cool feature.

Figured out a way to not overlap and  have it working.

The issue now is if you zoom in on the center of of something like  buzsaw, no circles are visible because it is all the same shade. Thinking of trying the same trick as the field labels that as you zoom in lines appear around the circles.

I like them, because there aren't a bunch of lines cluttering everything. I also like the mouse over because in dense areas it was difficult to determine which base was which.

If only mouse over worked in the mission editor.

MickDono in another thread suggested being able to use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of clipboard map.  Seems like a great idea to me, and I thought I'd post it here since this thread is getting some interaction.  I also encouraged him to post it in the Wishlist forum if he hasn't already.

Hey HiTech!

1945 called and wants their radar back!!!  :x

Seriously though I like the new radar! I think it is an improvement however everyone will have their own opinions. There have been a few good suggestions here but maybe you can answer these 3 in particular:

1) Is it possible to give an option for Rings or Shaded Rings (old or new style) through the options in clipboard?

2) Would it be possible to turn down the shading slightly (i.e. - currently when dar goes down the red shading makes it a lot more difficult to see cons).

3) Along with allowing for shaded rings - would it be possible to have the option to choose colors for dar that is up or down based on user preference? Kind of like the same idea as we have for enemy / player colors.

Thanks for the updates!

Cheers,
Elec1

Sure hope you don't have to resort to lines again.   The shading is so much better.

Glad I don't have to code anything.    :x

Anyone having trouble seeing this?
Zoomed Out

Zoomed In

Also don't ask about the Red circle around my plane, that was a concept I was playing with for letting you know a vehicle was in range.

How many sectors are visible once the lines start to show?

About 2 across, I.E. slightly more zoomed out the the Image I posted.

If you reversed that so the black ring and clear area is active dar and the shaded ring is dead dar, that would make more sense.

I can see it just fine.  What Bustr said also occurred to me.  I think it makes more sense to have that logic show the ones that are up as the color, down as the line where a working and nonworking dar overlap.
