FOV... What's Your Preference?
« on: January 23, 2017, 05:26:00 PM »
I've been all over from 90 to 106.
90 My face seems way too close to the dash.
106 Not real bad, but I can't get used to it.

Sweet spot for me is 100.
This is on a single 22" monitor.

So, what is your preferred FOV?

Tried a few different settings and settled on 105, on a 60" plasma.

I've learned to like the current default FOV @ 84 on a 30" 2560*1600 monitor. Makes me feel like inside the plane.

I still haven't found one that looks like ah2. People say that 106 matches it, but then I can't see the gauges without zooming on them. I shouldn't have to zoom in on my altimeter. "Hey, why don't you use the alt and speed hud?" I dont like the hud info and keep it off. Part of what I like about this game is using the gauges in the plane.

If I go smaller, I can read about half the gauges without zooming but have to look down to see the rest.

If I go smaller than that (default), I'm back into the paper towel tube view.

I know about the new look down view, but at acceptable fov #s I still cant read them without zooming.

I think i left it at 99 right for now because I gave up on trying to get it how I want it, which seems to be impossible.

FOV 110 on a 34" 2560 x 1080 ultra wide monitor.  Can't hit a damn thing no matter how close it's set, so set it for better SA.  :old:

If you aren't already using the forward view you can set it to look at the instruments and map it to a button. The "forward" view is mapped to keypad 8 by default and it's an alternate front view.
