skorpx1 what's on your mind?

Navy veteran here, and like Frenchy posted, seems like a long ago different life...

I was an AD ( Aviation Machinist rating )/ Jet Mechanic and worked mainly night ops as a Trouble Shooter...

Back then we had 5 to 7 different types of aircraft on the carriers.... it is totally different these days where they might get up to 4 different types (not counting Helos)

Just wanting to talk to some of the vets here on their experiences and how the military was back then.

I'm currently in the Army right now as infantry.

USMC 80 - 84

Tactical Air Control -  Battery powered grunt -  radio operator

Cool thing about TAC is that I was working directly with an officer, and they do not travel in trucks. We took UH-1 just about every where we went.

This was our escort

It was not glamorous or comfortable for that matter, but where in life to you get to watch 1000Lbs. bombs blow stuff up? I was 17 years old and the US government trusted me with an automatic rifle and telling pilots to drop bombs on stuff.

A-6 Intruder on the way to bring the pain!   CLEARED HOT!

BOOM. There was a tank in there

USAF 84-88 security police... Not the fun stuff like law enforcement more of the walking the flight line counting rivets in b52s and f-16s and later went to the missile field guarding missile silos and hanging with the key turners
