Night time is only as good as the players using it.
example, most people just use the gamma slider during night and whala no more night time.
it would be good to not allow people to use gamma sliders, but then they will just increase brightness on their monitors.
easiest way to approach night time is simply turning the game off, for people that dont want to fly at night.
I personally would like to see the following happen for night time.
1. cockpit lighting
2. friendly tagging decreases to 3k
3. maybe some friendly lights o n wings etc for friendlies and enemies over 3k
4. enemy icon range decreases to 3k
5. enemy lights blinking red or just a E Icon until you get within 3k.
6. searchlights from ground bases would be awesome however towns kept dark woth only some twinkling of some person who didnt get the message to black out their windows this drawing a big bullseye on their positions _ happenned to biebesheim am rhein , gernsheim am rhein and many other small towns in that area when US was trying to bomb darmstadt and the train depot there in what was formerly called kelley barracks.
7. 262s and 234s have some type of red orange on their engines
8. when you look into the cockpit of another aircraft top gun style you should be able to see some lighting there, maybe the pilot should be smoking a cigar ??
while we add all of this, lets make night time reeeeaaaally dark, to the point where you cannot see the ground or anoything within 6k,
for gvs
1. sparks while on concrete
2. chemlight markers or small ligts on top
3. reflection of binoculars and turret sights while pointed at you.
the light marker would be the equivelant of the light inside the vehicle shining through the periscopes of the tanks.
