hanging up on smallest of branches
« on: March 07, 2017, 05:06:57 PM »
Dale and Doug, I have played this game for years however I am seeing alot of players complaining about getting hung up on small branches of trees.

This is a bug as I have researched speed tree,

there is a way to set the tree branches to where they bend or at least let you through if the branches are so many pixels thick.

Please do this because I am getting killed way to often by having to ditch because I am sitting there hung up on a twig that looks like something my grandmother used to beat my arse with as a kid.

the trees have to be remodeled that is a big reason why people are complaining about the game.

when you cant drive a GV to the fight why even play the game.

its one thing to be able to hide in the trees but its another to have the trees make it to where you cannot even hide in them let alone be able to maneuver because the twigs stop a tracked vehicle that even a VW bug would be able to move.

Agree with ColClark. Tanks getting stuck so easily by a twig is just nuts!

I'm only seeing the trouble in the film above with the lvts.

I can whisk through trees just fine and they really help you survive a spawn camp or even outrun a pursuing m8 or m18

Yes!

I've had visual "clearance" between trees and stopped dead in my tracks because a small branch was "colliding" with the vehicles collision box. Been permanently stuck on them a number of times too.
Wish I had a screenshot for it but I've seen an M3 go halfway up a palm tree and get stuck :rofl

90% of my LVT missions end with half of my vehicle stuck in the ground.

I'm having trouble understanding this for the following reason.

It took me 6 months to build and repeatedly test all of the GV spawns I put on my terrain that I submitted recently to Hitech. I purposely tested all of the GV spawns on the terrain for problems three different times. During all of that testing the random spawn circle dropped my panther into the center of tree clusters locking it in place. Then the un-sticking routine would kick in and the trees would eventually spit me out. I would run into and get stuck on branches that if I could not un-stick myself, the un-sticking routine would kick in and move me out of the hang up. It even burped me out of a house I half spawned into.

How exactly are you gents getting permanently stuck when I spent 6 months trying to do that to Hitech's un-sticking code looking for any bugs? Granted there were situations getting un-stuck from one set of trees stuck me in another but, the un-stiking routine still kicked in.

As for your rounds and the tiny branches, it's on Hitech how\why he decided to set the collision mesh area.

Regarding your rounds exploding on leaves or tiny branches: look more carefully.  This is a bug I reported long ago in the beta.  If you hit the trunk or a thick branch the round will blow up and stop there.  However, if you "hit" leaves or thin branches, the round will appear to explode with a graphic burst, but if you watch closely the round actually continues on towards your target and explodes there.  I have killed many a tank with a round that appeared to be stopped by leaves.

It's definitely not permanent but it's not realistic at all....just a annoyance which would make GVing overall better....not game breaking.
