While it's a mildly interesting option... seems like a lot of work for such a small thing. I'm sure it would be pretty far down the list of HT's priorities. To a degree you alreay have a choice... you can bail or ride your bird to the dirt. For the majority of times, just not bailing works fine for me to observe my spiraling death. It would be cool though if when you died the camera switched to a view out in front of your plane looking back, hopefully showing your attacker blasting you to bits. Heh. A few seconds of that would be very cool. However, I'm sure there are graphical and bandwidth considerations for that as well.
What would REALLY be cool is to have the option to have an "instant replay" turned on. That would rock... have it so that every time you die, it "rewinds" like 10 seconds and shows you from external view yourself getting shot up. That would look great.

Technically, it might not be reasonable to do though.
BTW, as far as your plane "turning into" a chute when you bail, it kinda has to be that way for bandwidth reasons if you think about it. It would take a lot more host power and bandwidth to track all those pilotless planes floating around. While the other way is "cooler", this way is much more efficient. It's really necessary to do it this way when you start thinking about things like scenarios where you have to minimize the impact on the host of lots of planes in the same area.
HT does it this way for very good reasons. It can't hurt to suggest cool flaming death-scenes though... you never know what HT will come up with down the road.
