Something funny going on with my FR
« on: April 29, 2017, 10:02:34 PM »
Had this system for two months with/out issues.  Last night FR will jump from 70-80 down to 10s or freezes for 10 secs or so.  Not consent like it use to.   I can play WoT at max graphics and other programs and see not issues.  I AM stump what may be the issue.

Please send a little more of your DxDiag output, down to and including Sound Devices. That would allow for seeing potential driver issues. Also, if the DxDiag only shows your video card as ### series, the exact model would be nice to know.

Per the information you sent, it looks like your processor is a little on the low side, 3+ GHz being preferred.

Also, your Page File usage looks quite large. Are you using Sleep/Hibernate instead of completely shutting your system down? And further, you most likely have Fast Boot enabled which actually is pretty much the same as hibernate.

The processor is a little on the low side, but we need more information from the DXDIAG output.  You can attach it to a post, so you do not need to try and cut and paste it into a post.

I should bring this up that I been running the same system over two months and had no issues at all.  Never change anything in the game, however, there was a update on my intel recently that somebody said that could be the issue.  If so can I roll back on the previous update before the newest update?

Oh, it's a laptop. That opts out some potential issues like missing motherboard drivers. Thanks for the info.

As you can see in the Display Devices, you have two video "cards". One byIntel, another by Nvidia. It's been known already since AH2 that Intel video doesn't understand all the game code the same way the "real" gaming video cards do. That's why you'd want to use the GTX 960M for AH and most likely many other games, too. Check the Nvidia Control Panel, the latest update may have changed the priority. That sounds like the most likely culprit for such a drastic drop in FR.

If it's the Nvidia setting as I suspect, all you need to do is to choose the right device. A couple of mouse clicks. This is for Lenovo, but it applies to all brands: https://support.lenovo.com/fi/en/solutions/ht078706

Try that and did not solved the problem.

Did you check in the game settings to be sure the game is using the Nvida card and not the Intel one?

Yea, make sure it was still using it.  It something just i or we are over looking it.   I know my system is ok.  Ran test on it and nothing showing up.

One trick to try before trying to roll back your system: While shutting down, keep the Shift button pressed. Then start normally and check if it helped.

If not, do a System Restore to a date your system worked and check if that gets your frame rates back to normal. If that helps, the culprit is most likely a driver update.

I saw a similar drop in FR and stutters with my GTX1070 and I7 2600k at 4.2GHz.  Happened with DX9, DX11 and VR. I thought a driver revision fixed it but it continued. No FPS problems in other games but it was blue screening recently, I suspect the MB memory controller, so I upgraded everything and that fixed it.

I am not that computer knowledge.  So how do I do a system restore?
