Actually, in the Fighterstick, it has those nifty clips that slide onto the solder tangs.
Alright, it's been one of those

'ing moments.
The problem with the pot isn't that it is worn out, just the opposite. I figure I'm not using it enough. After rattling around in my pocket with all the coin change for two days, and my incessantly spinning the knob shaft, I noticed that it was turning freely. No rough spots.
I pulled out my ohm meter again, (you have one too, right?) and the dial was swinging smoothly.
I put it back in the base and pluged er in. It needed calibration, but I'm back in business after reattaching the base.
Still, I plan to order a replacement or two from radwell because this hasn't been fun. I might order one of those CTS 295's just to see if they work. The shipping and handling will cost more then the pot lol
