Pulled the trigger
« on: June 24, 2017, 03:56:12 PM »
on a MongoosT-50 Flightstick.  https://virpil.by/en/shop/sticks/vpc-mangoost-50-stick-vpc  VirPil anounced that they would start shipping their MongoosT-50 Flightstick July 1. The exchange rate seems very favorable right now, so I went ahead and ordered one. I'll let you know what I think of it in a month or so.  :joystick:

Sweet! I've the 'Goose mounted on my Warthog base currently whilst I await the shipping of new gimbal/base from Belarus. It's a very nice grip.

I like that they sell the base separately since it fits Warthog/Cougar sticks, what was wrong with the first one?

Got the grip as a preorder, gimbal was not manufactured when I ordered. Using the Warthog base in the meantime. My Virpil base/gimbal should be among the first batch shipped out as I preordered that also.

My MongoosT-50 Flightstick just arrived and it is a beautiful looking stick. https://virpil.com/en/shop/sticks/vpc-mangoost-50-stick-vpc
It feels well built, and fits my hand nicely.  I can't wait to get it set up in my simpit, and see how it feels in action.

Mine sits just a little too high when center mounted in my Obutto R3volution. Since my cats have torn up the stock seat, I'm probably going to try to make a cutout section in order to lower the stick a couple of inches.

I have mine mounted backwards, temporarily, until I can make a proper mount.  :headscratch:

I've only flown for about an hour with it so far, but it is smooth, and very sensitive. I can tell it's going to take a while to get the right feel dialed in, but when I do it will be sweet.  :joystick:

No FLS, my simpit uses, and I prefer a side mount stick, so I don't use an extension.

Joe, I did post some pics a while back, they were on photobucket so I don't think you'll find any floating around. Doesn't really matter my actual simpit is in pieces.  I'm in the process of rebuilding the pit mainly because of the move to VR, and right now all it actually is is a chair with some 2x4's screwed to it. When I get the new one up I'll get you some pics.

These wouldn't be yours, would they, ol' squadie? I've been meaning to use these to be the basis for mine (once me and the missus have room):

No, that's not mine. It kind of looks like Joe's old simpit.

VR may make those types of pits be less useful.  In my mind a good VR sim pit models the seat, joystick, throttle and pedal positions and doesn't really have the need to model the actual air frame since it looks like I am actually sitting in the cockpit already.   I've got an old office chair, and a schedule 40 PVC pipe contraption that holds the stick, throttle and pedals.  The main compromise is the mouse has to be find-able without peeking.  :D
