(in-flight) coloured callsigns.
« on: July 06, 2017, 02:32:45 PM »
I wish the game would assign different colour texts to people of different rank/skill.

The purpose is so that you can assess situations quicker and decide if a friendly probably needs help or not.

And how precisely does one determine skill?

Wiley.
If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

I suppose, K/d ratio or rank might work? Any ideas?

The scoring and ranking in the game is too easy to manipulate. If your wish was ever granted, I fear most players would hunt down lesser-skilled players for easy kills.

The game isn't performing as well as it had in the past (less numbers). People are trying to figure out why, but are left with idle ideas and perspectives that only show a shred of the real happenings.

It would be best to reflect on ideas and see if they add actual value/interest/novelties to the game before posting.

I forgot to mention, it would only be visible to country-members.

Thanks for reminding me.

That's pretty much my point.  It's not something that can be automatically quantified really.  K/D doesn't mean much and generally the higher the K/D the more the guy has a tendency to scream for help on channel when he's in over his head.

Rank generally doesn't mean much either.

Now maybe a color code the player can set that says "leave me alone I don't want your help" or "Yes!  Always help me because I just want the red guys dead!" might have some merit.  Although the leave me alone guy is going to whine if someone kills whatever enemy he's picked out of the furball to try to kill.  Just seems like another thing to whine at people over channel about.

That sounds like a good implementation.

I am just sure there that is some telemetric way of gauging it.

I just don't understand why the game needs all these changes that keep getting wished for...it doesn't make any sense to me...

Well, from the original idea, its just another extension of the achievement system already in place.

Not real easy to implement "somehow".  And just because I can handle the situation I'm in at the moment doesn't necessarily mean I don't want help.

And how exactly is this not well reflected on?

1.  This would single out new guys, many players would immediately drop everything to go after an easy kill.

2.  This would single out very good sticks know to be difficult to kill and invite guys to pile on to take him down.

3.  I don't think it would make the game more fun.

4. Your idea on how to judge the "elite" from the "newbie" are vacuous.

5. Part of the fun is the anonymity, not knowing how good those around you are.
