1.  This would single out new guys, many players would immediately drop everything to go after an easy kill.

2.  This would single out very good sticks know to be difficult to kill and invite guys to pile on to take him down.

3.  I don't think it would make the game more fun.

4. Your idea on how to judge the "elite" from the "newbie" are vacuous.

5. Part of the fun is the anonymity, not knowing how good those around you are.

1-2. It would be country visible only, as I have said.

3. Achievement is the motivation of all games, wether its a personal or a global one.

4. I am looking for input on how it would be judged.

5. You learn that by watching the kill/damage buffer anyways or check score.

I wish the game would assign different colour texts to people of different rank/skill.

The purpose is so that you can assess situations quicker and decide if a friendly probably needs help or not.

You can just ask if they need help. It's probably a more accurate system.

Rank is way too easy to manipulate. If you don't entirely stink in a fighter, can at least hit a town with a bomber, and snag a m3 capture or two you will easily rank top 150 or better. A majority of the really good fighter sticks don't have a really high rank. And those that do will have only 2 or 3 bomber sorties in order to hit a town to up their hit %. I consistently rank around 100 and I'm way below average in a fighter. So I have a decent rank without decent skill. So -1.

This works for me!  :)

I can see his point tho. Many a time Im fighting a few and I looking for the friendly flying close to clear my six only to see him HO some other guy and die a glorious death leaving me with out any help. Its hard to know who you can trust to help out..... other than squadmates. Those guys shoot them off my 12!

Implement the Elo rating system. The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in competitor-versus-competitor games such as chess.

The better the player, he would have a higher Elo, then his ENY gets lower for all of his planes, so it's not so easy for him to acquire the better planes. This way a worse player could acquire even a better plane than the old vet, becuase if a vet has the advantage in skill, give the bad player advantage in plane, or just equal them out so the 'vet' does not have a very big advantage.

The Elo would be calculated on how the player performs vs other fighter pilots on the number of kills and damage he makes. (even without returning to base).

it would only go down if your plane takes damage and if you die by another fighter plane player, if you crash or bail without taking damage it would not go down.

And make it so the 'going down' ELO activates after 3 minutes or 5 minutes of flight, so players upping from a field under attack cannot do that to constantly lower their rating.

And a fun feature to complement this,  have the top 10 ELO rated players have a  'ACE' next to their name, and other ratings can have different colors.

and for those desperate to raise their ELO you will encourage more runners and timid play than we already have.

Two things-  Punishing people by restricting plane access will lead to gaming the system ad nauseum.  Terrible idea.

Also if I read right, doesn't ELO only apply to two party competitions like chess or football?  If so it's a wee bit laughable to apply it to a multiplayer melee.  I've killed a lot of guys who are "better" than me at opportune moments, doesn't mean I'm more skilled than they are.

And finally... what's ELO got to do with anything?

The scoring and ranking in the game is too easy to manipulate. If your wish was ever granted, I fear most players would hunt down lesser-skilled players for easy kills.

that's what I was going to say.  that's why there are no names on the icons as well.

I don't see any benefit to this wish.  Sounds like it would be a terrible waste of resources without any improvement to the current game play.

It seems to me that every situation is different.  A newbie might feel that he is in control of a fight and not want help -- at that moment.  A veteran might take damage that handicaps him and could use help -- at that moment.

As someone suggested, just ask.
