Logical placement of defencive weapons on bases.
« on: July 30, 2017, 10:07:48 AM »
I think this is a great game and a pretty good simulator, " I would not have been here as long as I have if I didn't think so. All My other experiences with similar arenas like Air Combat. and all the World of Whatever have lasted weeks not years, but I ponder the whimsical design of the 17lb and 37 mm  weapons on bases.   Actual anti tank emplacements are recessed to provide a low silhouette, the only real defense an anti tank gun or rifle has. Why put them on a base when they can't even be utilized properly. Mainly the inability to depress the barrel sufficiently to engage the threats   and no anti aircraft gun would have any trees around It.  That gives a distinct advantage to the attacking A/C.  They can shoot at You when You can't get a shot.  AH2 positions were much better designed.   Were they placed that way to give base assaulters an easier capture , simpler  to engineer that way or just not enough for thought put into them.   It can be quite frustration for those who began on AH2 like Me or even before that.

I agree with the Base Defense problems.

Let’s take the logic one step further.
Bases are always near a town so that the town can provide supplies to the base and the base can help defend the town. In the world here there is not one road connecting them.

To defend the town the ground forces must always travel to the town through the Ardennes Forest. But even the Ardennes Forest had one road through it.

Since HTC has introduced the Ground and Sea options to the environment it is not just a Flight Simulation game anymore. At certain times now more people are fighting a ground war than in the Air. As a result, for this type of simulation to continue more infrastructures would need to be added for this to evolve.
