Disable cross country messages/talk
« on: August 01, 2017, 11:55:36 AM »
I wish open country talk was disabled.

If steam provides a host of new players, maybe HTC can allow more than 600 people an arena if its disabled.

You don't seem to get it. HTC limit their arenas because of the meta-culture that arises from the number of players.

If disabling global chat allows endless numbers of players in an arena I would gladly give it up.

my squad uses a 200 vox channel so that we can always chat regardless of what side we are currently on.

You don't get it...

IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO TUNE TO THE CROSS COUNTRY CHAT CHANNELS...IF YOU DO NOT CHOOSE TO TUNE TO THEM YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE 200 CROSS COUNTRY CHAT...

Why is no-body reading the bit about the arena numbers?

Possibly if numbers grew again, would you want to split your squad/friends across multiple arenas, like we had almost a decade ago?

Cross country communications did not cause the main arena to split into two arenas.

Communication in general seemed to do it: Skuzzy said it was due to people organising groups and acting out *seemingly* random/unwelcome behaviours is why they split the arenas..

The chances of that kind of behaviour occurring would be greatly diminished if global chat were put away with.

While I have no problem with cross country chat and text I dont think a player from another chess piece should be able to tune his vox to you and rant in your ear simply because they were shot down!

I had this happen years ago and it caused me to stop flying in the main arena,I have other reasons but it was the last straw for me.

If I remember correctly, Hitech said it had to do with the social interaction as the numbers increased. He felt that the larger numbers were making it harder for a new player to feel part of the group. Feeling left out they didn't stay active/involved as long and so left/logged.

We had the same issues in the Navy. Guys on destroyers knew everyone on board, while guys like me stationed on a carrier knew the guys in our dept at most. Splitting the arenas got us back down to "destroyer" size again.

I really think that's an idea that people may have moved past.  People are used to giant playerbases these days.  I'd respectfully submit most gamers these days would find a fuller arena more attractive.

If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

It would be nice if you could opt out of unsolicited vox.  People shouldn't be able to invade your ears just because they're angry.

AAIK thank you for your suggestion.  It seems everyone disagrees with you.  You're trying to sell us on this idea is perhaps hinting at desperation.  It's OK.  Not all ideas and suggestions are good one's.  I would suggest you move on sir.
