After jaeger fixed the torpedoes I was able to sink destroyers and cruisers with one PT torpedo (he allowed friendly damage for testing purposes).  However, there were certain ships where the torpedo would disappear before hitting.  This was totally reproducible.  One example was the DD docked in the port and the CA and DD close to the port as well as a couple of CA near the center island.  Could it be that these ships are in too shallow water, or too close to shore and the code disables torpedoes when they get in shallow water or close to shore?

I also saw floating off-shore task forces when flying in certain attitude/altitude combinations.

Also, when some enemy were saying they couldn't see the ships in Pearl firing at them I could clearly see the ship ack tracers from the port tower.

Thanks everyone for help testing. In regards to the floating ships which set were they?

The 5 DDs to the NE of Ford? The ships in Battleship row? The ships on the other side of Ford? The DD and Cruiser in the port? Or the ships in the channel between Ford and just south of the port?

I believe it was the carriers we were taking off from that were out at sea and not your ships in the harbor. Someone correct me if I"m wrong.

Frame rates were good for me, never went below 59. The only issue I had that was not addressed yet was the Pearl terrain appeared to be floating above the the water when I climbed to altitude to dive bomb the fleet.

Hey DmdJJ can you be a little more specific? What do you mean by Pearl Terrain? Was it Ford Island appeared like it was floating above the water when you were at what alt? Or the port?

Thanks appreciated the help.

It (floating ships) was the task force out at sea, as viewed from Pearl Harbor from a long distance.

715 couple of questions.

Do you remember the number of the task force?

Second you mean it looked light floating when on the horizon but once you got closed to it (coming in for landing approach) then it looked fine or still looked like it was floating?

Ford Island looked as if it was floating. It would move opposite of aircraft movement. If I pushed the nose down, the island would move upward to where I could see the water under the land. When I pulled the nose up it would move back down. Turn left and the island would rotate to the right and vise versa.

715 couple of questions.

Don't remember the number, but yes the problem showed when it was near the horizon.  I never got close (I'm allergic to ack).

Attack on Pearl harbor

Greetings all, this setup is to test out some static
ships courtesy of Ghost dancer. this is a new pearl
harbor terrain so please, expect problems. its not
finished at this time.  jump in, blow stuff up
destroy ships, just let us know in the AVA forum,
how much bombs and what affects it had,
IE 1 torpedo killed 2 ships, that sort of thing.
please keep us aware of your frame rates and let
us know if thats a problem. PLease understand
this is a work and progress and weird things can
happen. thanks again to ghost dancer for the ships.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military
strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy
against the United States naval base at Pearl
Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941
(December 8 in Japan). The attack was intended as
a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific
Fleet from interfering with military actions the
Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia
against overseas territories of the United
Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States.

I tried it out a couple days ago.  Initial spawn I was to the northeast corner.  Two glaring items.  Both of the airfields from surface to about 5,000 feet had a jittering appearance of opposing lines over the terrain.  On the two town islands, the shadows of trees jittered continuously from any angle at lower altitudes.

Also tried out the carriers.  On the deck, the top of the carrier and surrounding ship antennas flickered continuously from the surface to about a 1,000 feet.

I also noticed when approaching Ford Island from the south shore area it appeared to be a mud flat in the middle of the harbor.   I landed there.  It was smooth.

Nice effect having the A-20s parked outside the hangars.  :aok
I've got a gtx 1070 graphics card and all the graphics settings to the full on side of the scales.  FR was a constant 59-60.
