With all this talk about scenarios, scenario groups, scenario settings ... and such .... anybody else here into the SCW?

Sure, it'd take a bit of modeling. I bet HT and Pyro would if there was enough interest behind it.

Forget the late war uberfantasy stuff! Let's visit "sunny" Spain and fly Chatos, Chirris, Moscas and 109 .... Bs.  :D

(and "the gang" wonders why it took so long, I bet)

Although I asked if anyone else was interested, that doesn't neccesarily mean I'd like everyone here to post "no" if they aren't. It's a "targeted thread" (fairly simple concept).

Thanks for showing enough interest to post your lack of interest, though, Steve.  :)

Thanks. < S >  :)

First things first ... I better see if interest can be drummed up here. Those that already know about the Spanish Civil War and find it interesting, speak up! Those that don't know and are curious, ask!  :)

I'll be posting pics and facts off and on. I don't pretend to be an authority, either. Anyone who has more or sees something that needs correcting is welcome.

Arlo,

Heh heh.  I have an agenda for early-mid Pacific war aircraft and your topic was a very inviting place to spew my wants.  Actually, I feel your pain.  I'm coming to the conclusion that AH will always be a late-war Main Arena game and thus I keep one eye on the developing "Target Rabaul" with high hopes for that.  I do think the SCW would be a nice addition, though I feel some other battles or timeframes are more worthy of inclusion before it.  But it's not my game and the developers have their own vision and can do anything they want and I understand this.  I do feel you'll have much better luck in getting your SCW after a few other historical topics are addressed first in the Aces High plane set....like early-mid war Pacific!

"This just in:  Generalissimo Francisco Franco...is still dead."

This is what I think I know about the SCW, please correct me if I'm wrong, and fill in/expand any missing info.

Began in 1936, ended 1938?  Fought between the Republicans and the Nationalists.   Nazi Germany provided military assistance to one side (The Nationalists?) in the form of the Condor Legion, which flew He.51s and later Me109s.  The first terror bombing of civilians took place, against the town of Guernica.  Picasso did a famous painting of this incident, by the same title.  I think the side led by Franco (Nationalists?) won the war?

You know, it might be worth checking over at WarBirds for interest also.  I think they have a bigger early war fan base, and word has it that its very easy to add new objects and planes into WBIII, AND they are letting players do the submissions themselves, through the Player Development Corp.  If you are really into it, it might be worth a try.  I'd love to see it - it'd be a great proof of concept for WB3 to add a completely new scenario.  Some of the German bombers developed for SCW (He.111, Do.17) could fill out WB's "almost there" BoB planeset.  Plus, only $9.95/month for WB3.

Or, check out TargetWare.  That's a community-based server project that'll license you the Targetware engine, and the communty does all the development work to bring the sim to life.  There are two Targetware titles currently in development- Target:Korea, and Target:Rabaul.

Welcome to AH, sorry to hear about AW, good luck with your plans and ideas.  Looking forward to seeing what this additional talent will bring to the communtiy and sim.
