The map shown is an example of what I don’t understand about the maps. How can GV’s spawn on another island across open water? You should first have to establish a foothold on that island then be able to spawn at will on that island.

gv spawns cross mountains but do not connect two coastal airfields on the same plain?

also, gv spawns are to low lands.  each airfield is on the coast.  most gv fights will be in a similar flat town base spawn triangle.

Lunatic,

Contact Easyscor to get you started and show us how to make maps since you have such a keen insight to terrains. Or are you a frustrated realism aficionado who wants WW2 realistic topographic regions of the planet tortured into a three sided combat arena out of scale and balance? The island of Mindanao still had to be tortured to fit into a 10x10 and have land mass for 3 countries. And there are obvious good, average and horrible sides off the rotation. A 10x10 arena has a slightly smaller area then the real Mindanao. Do the math, and check a geo map of the region, I did doing the research for building the islands on this terrain.

You gentlemen are long on carping, you don't even post a mock up design and try to sell anyone on your ideas considering how much time and effort it really takes to create these things. Do you need help with the design work? Easyscor and anyone on the AvA terrain team can easily help you do a mockup to present your superior designs. As for building them, sometimes I get the impression the fun is in taking the pot shots. Still, I put that energy into the terrain and not into figuratively kicking shins.

So lunatic, you must have a bunch of new terrains ready to show us with all that energy you display. Oh, and Waffle didn't make any berm tiles for AH3 like in AH2, as you asked me to put into my terrain. I went through all of the objects looking for them. Still he did create Bridges....

AH reminds me of government road crews. One guy digs and fills the holes while the rest of the crew tells him how to hold the shovel between sips of coffee. So lunatic, how do you hold your shovel......

Yes Mabel, your bombers can fly between the two islands fully loaded NOE with beer barrels for the carrier just off shore.

Arlo it took forever to get the coffee stains off those little suckers......

I don't even need to tower. The new terrain combined with the clipboard hostiles detector is great for annoying people, I tried it.
You go to the edge of the strats and start to take down buildings from under some trees. You keep an eye on the clipboard and once the landing button turns red you simply go into hiding. That way you detect an enemy tank long before you even can hear him incoming.
Now it's extremely difficult for anyone to find you. You can go for a coffee while keeping the factory flashing. At some point nobody will care about that anyore, the button is green and you can happily decimate the buildings again.

Players looking for players without engaging in combat. Actual GV combat has become a rarity compared to AH2.

My 15 minutes of fame. :(

Don't worry, the terrain is full of little Arlo's, I was burnt out by that last screen shot and my imagineering went all Goofy....  hehehehe.

Violator,

I removed GV spawns to strats on this terrain and 21 airfields have GV combat choke points called bridges that are indestructible blocking the way to the airfield. The vast majority of airfields are 19 miles apart to cut down on transit time while keeping to the spacing rules. And how do you encourage GVers to get into the same fight for an airfield you are at? Don't fill up the terrain with vBases all connected to each other. Fill up the terrain with spawns between airfields. Even Gvers want to go where everyone else is.

Hmmmm, I see room for antoher Arloipelago......

1) Is there a requirement that all country bases must start out as contiguous?

Can you have R / B / K / R / B / K going around the horn or is that a no no?

2) Do all bases have to be "owned" at the start of the map?    Could you have uncapturable-only bases "owned" with the rest of the map neutral to spur a base race?

I guess the victory % formula would need a tweak for that to work.

I actually like the layout you got there. 19 miles is a lot better. I don't like FTs that much, but I think it will help with off hours. I don't really know a lot about tanking, but I think scattered spawns are the best option. There are better peeps to discuss tanking with.  The camping is tough. I honestly think the focus needs to be on air combat, that's where AH really shines, and what most players find AH to do. It's been the lack of air combat furballs that severally hurt the #s. There are seeming other small nuance adjustments that can be made in game which would just promote a little better action. Hitech at this point I think needs to hire more map makers. Many players are just tired of the same maps after 16 years. I do appreciate you building maps Bustr. We need it!

Flesh it out and wish list it. You know Hitech will comment quickly if he likes it or as most wishes like this go, it becomes a conversation piece.

I just give everyone an even playing field from the moment the terrain pops up. What they choose to do with that is the essence of sandbox worlds. Ever worry as you get older your imagineering organ stops making lemonade when your trees are only dropping lemons? You should really try building a terrain, most players pay to have their hand held or it's all Hitech's or my fault as the terrain builder if they choose not to make the most of their imagineering organ's potential. It's easier to entertain a room full of preschoolers with a bouncing ball.

Am I the only one who has liked buzzsaw since it came out?

I liked it even better in its original form, before the squeeky-wheel field alt update.

I liked it because everyone talked about it from their real time game playing perspective and not from their fantasy football perfect team of the century perspective.

It has been an excellent post mortum to understand what is and is not interesting to the different game play style of players.
