Can’t even force myself to login.
« on: December 11, 2017, 11:09:59 PM »
Hoping this is just a phase, but for the past month and a half I log after a single sortie, and that’s if I even decide to login at all.  FSO is keeping my sub but right now I’m at an all time low for MA gameplay.  I spent $1,400 bucks a year ago to play AH exclusively and it sucks im to this point already.  I’m trying new aircraft, vehicles, tactics etc but none of it is doing it for me.

Best thing might be to just not login at all for a month and hopefully the spirit is rejuvenated in 2018?

What do you guys do when interest in the game is in the dumps?

Then dont log in and play other games 😁. For me I switch between IL2, learn a new plane in DCS, iRacing, Elite Dangerous, World of Tanks.

Weirdly I enjoy them for the lack of social interaction, no ego wars, only mission related chatter. Amusing here of how many peeps think they are big fish, God's gift to airmanship. I play AH every few months not for the challenge\graphics, but the social aspect and the fun of the various stuff u can do.

It's a vast world in the gaming scene....Aces High has the potential, but a good size of it's player base keep it in the downward trend....the "everything is fine" crowd to be exact.

Player Unknown's Battlegrounds is an excellent shooter, DrSpek and I play together from time to time.

Then don't play.

Seriously, it's a game, and games are meant to be fun for you, not a chore. Your experience will not get better if you try to force yourself to have fun.
Remember, a game doesn't even have to 'get force' to burn out on it. You have been here for a great amount of time, you have probably literally '
seen it all' a thousand times over.
Step away. Do something else. Don't get yourself buried in nostalgia "but it used to be that much fun!" If you really feel the itch to play the game as is, fly. Else don't.

I just wish I could always heed my own advice...  :noid

This is supposed to be a pastime activity, not a full time job. A pleasure instead of a burden. There's no virtual Uncle Sam wanting you, no need to stay alert 24/7 for the evil plots of the enemy.

My way is to play on weekends only, that gives me something to wait for. If there's someone I like to chat or wing with, especially squad members, I may stay longer.  If not, a few sorties is often enough.

I knew my Aces High recruiter lied to me. I was told that the fate of Chessland depended on me.  One day, I might be crowned king of a Chess country.

Sounds really familiar, now I don't feel quite so odd..

Last year I dropped about $2000 to update all my equipment to play AH3..
New Computer, Big Monitor, Controls, Headset, Keyboard, etc.. All new and up to date!

It was winter time, cold wet and nasty outside, so I was looking for something to occupy my time indoors.. My wife doesn't complain about me spending money on stupid computer crap, as long as I'm happily busy at home, and not out gettin loaded, and chasin wild women, lol!

I dinked around with the game for a while, until I got bored, and the weather changed!
So the new equipment just sat in the corner gathering dust.. Until winter came again, and here I am..

I wish that I knew what element it is, that keeps bringing me back to this game???
And, what element is missing, that makes my enthusiasm for it wane so quickly???

10yrs ago, I was absolutely obsessed with AH2, was hoping to find that again..
Well, they say you can never go back, I guess it is true in game land too!

I don't fly it. tbh. forcing yourself isn't fun.

I've flown MA one night  early last month...that's it.
It'll turn around or it won't.

I still fly FSO/create terrains for SEA/bounce the events/keep the russians off the ahevents website/try to find someone in ww1 once in a while.

If I can find some reason to go back to MA I will, right now i cannot.
I completely agree with Lusche. It should be fun, when it stops being fun, don't do it.

Gone from the game. Please see Spikes or Nefarious for any Ahevents.net admin needs.

There's no shame in taking a break.  I rotate in and out of playing the MA depending on what else interests me although I've noticed this year's seen a sharp decline in how much I play the MA.  I've pretty much become a "squad night and FSO" guy lately, with the occasional couple hours in the MA if things are to my liking when I log in.

I've always felt Delirium's "stages of AH player" was pretty accurate in a lot of cases.  This game has a shelf life for every single player, and the clock starts ticking the first time you log in.  Different people last for different amounts of time.

Honestly, I have felt this way twice in my short 5 years of playing.  What snapped me out of it was changing things up.  I rotated to another country.  Also, I got into terrain making.  I probably spend more time in the object and terrain editors than I do in the game.
