Need a Japanese sub then we can do 1941 Hollis Wood scene with a German U-boat commander on board.

It could happen :aok In fact it kind of did.

Um ... yeah. (We've had this conversation.)

Radio proximity fuses were definitely an Allied advantage ... in real life ... and by the end of the war was universally applied. Radio proximity was not the only proximity fuse of the war, however. Welcome to AH, where the only dar is on the map. I'm fairly confident that the drone's optically set proxi fuses on the Japanese ships will still give a player a challenge.:)

Bah hum-sub. However, I (personally) would throw submariners a bone by recommending sub drones with adjustable 'shipping lane routes' on water maps. They would appear surfaced to friendlies if no enemy units were within their visual (dare I say dar) range. They would submerge automatically, otherwise. As a drone they would fire on enemies automatically, as the situation warranted. Otherwise they could perhaps offer a player a periscope view for a 'quick solution' when an enemy ship is in range by clicking on their icon. They could also fire on resupply convoys. What a lot of work anti-sub will be to implement in the game what with patrol planes and depth charges and such.  :D

You won't see a Yamato.  I'd piss off so many people with her. :t

But ANY IJN Ship, still, would be great.  :aok

Fubuki, changed the course of naval architecture and DD design..
Completed in 1926 she was twice the size of any other destroyer. Designers packed as much weaponry as they could fit onto the hull.. Making them rather unstable and prone to structural cracking! Fubuki's guns were also superior, 5" x50 caliber bag loaders.. Giving them much better performance than the 5" x38caliber USN weapons.. But Fubuki's guns were for surface combat only, the type 1 turrets had very low elevation angles.. This was changed in the later Type 2 and 3 turrets allowing them a dual purpose role.. And we all know about the long lance torpedoes, with onboard reloads in armored deck houses..

Something most people don't know about Japanese DDs, they suffered from massive catastrophic explosions in battle.. A notable number were lost, exploding suddenly with no survivors.. Most likely they were hit in the above deck torpedo magazines = BOOM! But nobody knows for sure!

Cool ships tho!
