I know the Yak is a sub for the D.520, but is it a sub akin to the 110 subbing for the Ki-45?  The 110C is, to my understanding, better flat out than the Ki-45.

I agree with you the yak-7b too much airplane. Watch how the axis destroy the allies in this fso.

I believe a true D.520 would be better than the Yak-7b. The Yak gives up 420 ft/min in the climb with speed and turning about equal to the D.520

Ah, so it will be much closer vs a 110C subbing for the Ki-45.  That's good.  Will make for a more accurate run.

To be fair, the D.520 is a much better airplane than the Yak-7b. Plus, the P-40F is a monster in this setup. The D.520 is faster and has a better climb rate. But, it is a very close sub and although it may outclass the F4F, if you fly the F4F to its strengths you will win the fight.

Problem with this situation is that we speaking in hypothetical. Those 4 F4F we fought we're good sticks. The out come if you watch the video is there to see. If the Frenchy aircraft are so great we will never know. We can't fly them. I know I never had in any simulation. Yak-7b is a out standing aircraft, in frame 1 they crush our escorts and almost all our sbds. I be posting that disappointing allies mission soon.

Your escorts last night were not even close to the same altitude as our Yaks when we found you. You can't seriously extrapolate any useful data from that engagement when you never had an equal starting point. Hell, from what I saw, they hung you guys out to dry when they all turned left for some reason when the first Yaks showed up. Not sure what that was supposed to be - an attempt at a spiral climb, perhaps. Regardless, your escorts wound up behind you before the first shot was fired.

It would have been different had we actually had to fight them before attacking the SBD's.

We circled around your group and waited for the F4F's to make a mistake. Their mistake was to chase us and leave the SBD's wide open. When that happened, KN pouced on the SBD's which were very low. The F4F's were only about 15k to start with, so of course, they were no match.

with the cannon and the speed, the yak-7b is a good plane.  I think the match up was a prepared slaughter.  I thought the cap was 15kft for  our escorts, don't remember the sbd cap.  I killed one yak in a mad melee with yaks everywhere and sbd's getting killed.   With the match up, and our squad prep, the outcome was obvious from the giving of the orders.  If you compare the yak to a pony with alt, yeah, it sucks.  under 15k with a yak.........any yak, it's a great plane.

Either way, it foolish having them at only 15K. Don't blame the matchup if your team can't understand the setup.

It's a tough setup in my opinion. (But I suk according to ch. 200  )

First frame saw the 56th and our P-40's get pretty much  . We came away with ZERO success... Just seemed like a big ol' mess. 

As sad-panda as I am, I'm still looking forward to giving it my best. I don't envy those that put these together, there's always gonna be someone unhappy.

Thanks for putting this together, and next time, please put the bad guys in front of me so I can miss there too!

We where flying those F4F's we did not have enough time to get over 14K slick and stay with the bombers. Those things are trash compared to the yaks. In the time we had to climb, reaching 20k would have been impossible.

Well that explains the altitude difference. At least it was not an issue of not knowing the altitude restrictions.
