It's interesting to see how many people say they hate the night time in the arenas.  For many years this was a big wish for a lot of people.  On Christmas Eve, Hitech would change the arena to night time, and Santa would fly around.  Lots of people liked the night time, and put it on the wishlist.  Now we have a night time period, and people are desperately wishing for it to go away.

While I am not a fan of the night sky in the arena, I do think it is an interesting addition to the environment, and I can live with it.  Especially since I have seen one or two epic battles that took place at night.  Seeing tracers and bombs going off in the dark was really cool.

This isn’t night.  It’s dusk.

Planes blend into the background enough in broad daylight.  Dusk they’re impossible without adjusting gamma which defeats the whole point.

The players who like it are those that do not dogfight and do not want to be seen.

Not necessarily. There are those who said they liked a dog fight in the dark.

Also the main arena is set for real dates, I.E. we are currently short days do to it being winter in the northern hemisphere. So in some since you wish is granted, each day will be longer for the next 5 1/2 months.

The dark coming so often is getting to be a real pain.

Wouldn't zero latitude put you at the equator and get the Sun pretty close to overhead at noon?

Since the main arena maps are mostly not "real world" locations but do use real world solar positioning, in order to provide the most amount of daylight time in the arena, why not simply set the arena latitude either to the equator (0 latitude) or seasonally change them to maximize daylight. Biannually changing the arena setting to a far northern or southern latitude would seem to solve the issue, no?
