If this comes to fruition, there should be a seperate forum section for the toxic posts that will come from upset players who lost $$$ because of x, x, and x.

The negativity that will come from this could pollute the forum even more.

Agree, but there will always be that ego stroke element. It’s a game and some cats are hyper competitive. Meh, the best part about those players is shutting them down.

have read all replies to this thread and have to highly agree there seems to be a dead spot I'm ma that requires many bodies for the fun of the game.
Small things could help really help new guys like an aiming dot (which I have heard of but not seen to this date), maybe a new guy indicator to let everyone know he is new. I have no issue with the tourney play but would like some interest in the MA to bring numbers in there

From what I read no players are betting any money. That takes a lot of pain away from losing. Imagining a "bruised ego" scenario is a false misconception. If you can't handle yourself, don't sign up. Other sports, games, seem to find a way to have sportsmanship. Just look at Chess as an example. MMA if you really wanna talk about "bruise". Drone racing. Halo being in the Xgames.. Why is AH strictly different than those competitions when it comes to egos? I think other dimensions and gaming scenarios in AH are a good thing. In fact, the Special Events should very well advertised and one of their top bulletins. They are so great for the game and the community.

Not interested in signing up because I don't care to be the bestest cartoon pilot or even among the best.  My statement was in reference to the toxic environment that playing for money will create.  It doesn't matter if players don't lose their own money.  Someone else winning money that "rightfully" shouldn't be theirs because xyz, is going to set the game on fire with more outrage, venom and c-word accusations than ever before.

Exactly.

Yep, I agree.

There has already been accusations of "team play" during KotH in the past already. Can you imagine the effects after money is placed on the event?

Not in the last 10 years.

I can see little room for whining about why you lost a 1vs1,2vs2, 4vs4 etc straight up duel.   You really think someone who enters a paid for tournament isn't adult enough to accept defeat if they lost?  No-one is holding a gun to their head forcing them to enter any competition!   If you guys are so against it then that is great but don't put it down before it has a chance to succeed, especially if you have no intention of trying it out!

You cannot be that clueless to make that statement in this community.

Heh.  Make certain you have enough time to page through the BBS once this begins.

Wish:  Hopefully, comments about the Fly For Money tournaments will be confined to a thread that we peasants can skip.

Despite the foregoing, I don't think it's wrong to try this.  I sense that there is a group that will respond very favorably to the opportunity, and keeping old, or attracting new, players is a good thing for the game.

I agree that the idea is cool, fun, interesting and a small group of players will relish the addition, but I just dont see this helping bring in new players to the MAs.

Really Fugi?

Where, how would one practice for this event? The MA. Wouldn't that bring more folks in?
If there is a bracket system or something based on "points" and different levels, i could see this drawing more players.

I may not even participate, but if it brings in new players,,,,,right on!

These kind of tournaments needs lots of advertising. I just dont see HTC putting out that kind of money on the off chance they will get a big return. Enticing the general player populations into these tournaments isn't going to to bring in new players, just give gifts to players who are already subscribed and more than likely have been here for quite some time.

Why did the "steam" setup bust? because it wasn't baby sat and the influx of players were not setup in a way to help them getting acclimated. The same will happen with this tourney idea. They will launch it and after the first couple of runs they will let it go on its own. No push to let people know its available, no body to watch over it, nobody to baby sit it and squash any issues that may come up immediately.

It just looks to me to be more time and effort wasted and not put to the areas that NEED that time and effort.

Wrong about the advertising,  or about you spending the money?   :noid
