You have to be 10 miles from a vehicle then you get GVDAR.
Gotta wonder if persistent GVDAR is also Hitech answering an old complaint about bases being grabbed by Gv's avoiding combat instead of taking part in the primary activity's along the fronts. There was a time that issue was fought over as partisanly as air combat is the real game in AH3 versus GV's as a side show. It was part of GV's are ruining this game just look how players avoid combat by hiding and sneaking out of the way feilds. Had all the vitriol as Junky's tirades against supply M3's. No one during those lynch mob proceedings ever asked for troops to be taken out of M3's.
It's hard to tell if a flashing base is an enemy flying trough the corner of that sector clipping the radar circle or a GV sneaking around in the micro combat area. In the past players just stopped looking becasue a flashing base or town was not enough to tell and everyone is busy having the fun they are paying for. Since this game went live 1999, we have known if it was an airplane becasue of the DARBAR. It's 17 years later we finally have a DARBAR for GV's to help players make decisions on how to have their fun for that segment of the game. There are more paying customers in the game than the loud screamers who live here in these forums trying to convince Hitech they can read all of those paying customers minds.
There is no difference to the hatred of radar by the air combat population in the game. There have been numerous attempts over the years to have aircraft radar neutered more than it is by realism junkies and even some well known ACM junkies. And if you are defending an airfield, having your radar out, PO's everyone because of not knowing anything about what is out there. Once radar is down, air combat is not fun, especially as more numbers show up that you didn't know about. After 17 years, the air combat players live with it and keep playing the best they can.
Why have GVDAR persistent and not like radar? For one you have the ability to drop the home hanger of the incoming GV's easier than shutting down all air bases surrounding your feild. And I get the suspicion Hitech is helping you hang onto your field instead of too quickly turning your backs on how dangerous GV's really are while you are so busy turning your back on them to get in the air and ignore those problems. I've watched too many players over the years get off the ground to get away from worrying about a GV problem which becomes time consuming to deal with, even with GVDAR. POTW has members who kill GV's from the ground in GV's and from the air in attackers like I do. None of us think GVDAR has suddenly castrated GV's, they are still the same pain the whatsis to deal with and they still sneak feilds right under your noses. And they still sneak onto feilds and blow their nose in your ear the moment your plane spawns on the runway towering you.
If anything, GVDAR has upped the skeet shooting ability of tank drivers and inspired more wirbles to drive escort for tanks making flying attackers one grand PITA lately. Too bad the LTAR aren't here anymore, they would love the attacker rich environment GVDAR creates for flak wagons.
