Scenario Briefing Room
« on: March 05, 2018, 06:02:32 PM »
There needs to be a briefing room for squadrons and the entire team.  A room that is out of the tower so range doesn't affect the briefing, and one with the ability for the host to flag players to speak, players can "raise their hand" to let the presenter know they wish to speak.  Open forum can be turned off or on for open discussion mode or presentation mode.
During many scenarios, some of us use a program called Twiddla and we all log in and look at real time mission planning map.  We type on the map, draw routes, move plane icons around, highlight radar trigger points and much more.  This would be a nice element to be included on the map as we brief.  It's simpler and less time consuming to create the waypoints from a mission planner, as it's more free style and collaborative, everyone in the room could see it, and the ability to draw can be given to group leaders and others so as to have a collaborative discussion with visuals.
A very nice feature would be the ability to create Groups/Squads and drag the participants into the squads during the briefings, and as groups form, late comers attend, plans change and such, we could quickly and easily create the groups.
This would be helpful to many of us who actively plan and lead scenario teams.

I have asked for this many times before. A "ready room" to lay out the plan, point out waypoints and instruct wings was always a plus in running big missions. Even in the MA this would be a great addition.

I could also see this ready room used to help with main arena mission planning. Those who enter the room, look at the intended target, take a flight, modify it as needed. Fantastic idea, especially for SEA events.  It would also be handy to have an 'invite' function so that players can be pulled into the room with the invite.

Great idea ROC! :salute

+all the numbers...

I hate to sound like a young "whipper-snapper", but having mechanics IN-GAME to facilitate this would go a long way to making these complex processes and procedure's more palatable for a newer player, and make life MUCH easier for the die-hards that have been around the block...

Something as simple as the Pickup Mission Editor, in an O'club type setting where all "in-room" can see the leaders annotated map with targets, waypoints, etc.

It could be as simple as a more "slick" way of presenting information on the arena message, but this is only per country.  I'd suggest that this is only available within the SEA arena's to ensure it isn't abused like MA CV admirals sometimes do...

Just wish there was a more polished way using in-game mechanix to provide this information to squads and/or countrymen.

We do have this room:

It's the Quonset hut next to the O'club, and I think it exists at every field, even VBases.  Sign above the door says "Briefing Room".  Needs some virtual pilots in the chairs though, IMO.

Would this work, if we had a way into from the clipboard?   (The same way we do with the O'club)

Yes, absolutely.  It's one thing to use the mission planner but that isn't really an efficient way for us to plan.  Been doing it for years in here and it's more informative when we are on teamspeak outside of the game on a shared planning board.  Really needs to be in game.

+1, this would be a great addition especially if you could edit the briefing room for certain terrains, that could have RAF themes, USAAF, USN, Luftwaffe, IJN, IJAAF, Russian.

I also think a ‘ready room’ would be awesome on the carriers.

After reading the posts following the OP, this would be a fantastic idea.  The way I see this formulating in my mind would be:

An Aces High player clicks on the Briefing Room tab on the clipboard and creates a Mission Plan with aircraft type, load out and a waypoint chart.
AH player begins the PR campaign to fill the spots in tower where mission launches.
Interested players while in mission launch tower click the Briefing Room tab to enter a private room for vox communication about mission and players select aircraft.

Plus the ability to invite players into the flights similar to how you join a bomber.

Should I break a rule so scuzzy/htc sees this?  :devil

:pray for this to come true in some manner to elevate the immersion, and ease-of-use factor for all involved with events...
