WEP Gauge
« on: March 06, 2018, 09:26:31 PM »
I learned about WEP not being resupplied on the rearm pad. the hard way going against Seano's pony and a 109 In a fifty perk point Tempest.  So how about a gauge to let Us know How much We have left. Maybe a bar type in the top right hand corner.  That way We will know when to get a new airplane instead of keeping  the seemingly perfectly good one We have.

Side Note. Not having WEP resupplied on the rearm pad. makes It very much more difficult to fulfill several plane victory achievements , that have become difficult enough with the loss of early and mid war arenas.  And Is an unfair Impairment when using a perk plane. especially when ENY begins to work against You.  I like to use the same plane until It gets shot to pieces and is truly war weary.  anyway   Have a blast.

Look at the manifold pressure gauge, it will show you what you're asking for.

One issue with wep is that on some planes its just an increase in manifold pressure, but most planes cannot deliver full manifold pressure at all altitudes and they should not lose wep time as long as they are not reaching the maximum manifold pressure. On some altitudes wep doesnt makes any difference at all in manifold pressure and thus it should not consume wep time even if wep is on...

hmmm I thought the temperature gauge showed that-at least that's what I look at to judge wep use :airplane:

The temperature gauge indeed is a WEP indicator as well.

What the ask should be that rearm also resets WEP - is that correct Rod?

Use WEP only in emergencies and only as long as needed and you'll be fine.  With your other post, I'm thinking you just want to be able to keep the P key mashed on all the time.

I will use mine in a zoom climb, in a intercept climb staggered at usually 3-4K intervals depending on the planes climb tables, and maybe to get up to a decent speed if I've bled a lot of E, then the thing goes off.

If you're not using it for more than 30 seconds to a minute at a time, you never have to worry.    :old:

For base defense, I used the K4 at 50% fuel with the WEP firewalled since the durations were about equal.

And at 75%, you know it's time to go land when the WEP let's off.

Some might say a wep gauge is a little gamey.  That said, wep time is plane dependent and closely associated to real life wep availability.

HTC posted the breakdown of wep availability a while ago, here is the link http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,383002.msg5097338.html#msg5097338

Ahh...temp guage, that was what I meant, not the manifold pressure dial.

If you fly with WEP on as a norm, you need to learn how to fly. WEP is not meant to be used as if it was just another throttle position. If you are worried about not being fast enough, then get in a different plane.

Maybe put WEP remaining on the E6b clipboard would be easier.

I don't think the temp gauge will tell You how many minutes You have left. or if It will recycle again. It would be nice to have because I sometimes refuel and rearm the same crate 6 or 7 times.
