Option to permanently "squelch" a player ID.
« on: April 21, 2018, 06:49:54 PM »
I would like to see an option whereby I can "squelch" a player ID until I choose to "unsquelch" that  same player ID, in other words a permanent "squelch" so I don't have to "squelch" the playerID each time I start a session.

For more than a decade the first thing I do when I join an arena even before I select an airfield is to open the roster and "squelch" player ID's that I have no desire to communicate with or even read their comments on any channel.  I then 'squelch" additional player ID's as I notice that they have joined.  I shouldn't have to do this each and every time I enter an arena.  There is no reason that this list can't be remembered.  The game remembers my video, game and other choices why not this one.

IIRC, the reason why we don't have a permanent squelch list isn't to give each side to "mend fences" as suggested by some posts in this thread but because of the possibility of an innocent player being permanently squelched.

For example, Player A is put on someone's permanent squelch list and then Player A quits the game.  Now, along comes new Player B that happens to select old Player A's handle and is automatically permanently squelched because the original Player A was put on someone's permanent squelch list.  That is why HiTech has not implemented a permanent squelch option to the game.

Thanks for the answer Ack-Ack.

Maybe I chose the wrong term "permanent".  I should have said perpetual.  I can squelch any ID anytime I want.  I just don't want to have to go through a checklist every time I play.  I would rather spend the time flying.  Even if a player quits and someone else assumes the squelched ID, the only person it affects is me not the player I squelched.  If I found out it was a different person that assumed the ID I could always un squelch the person.

Anyhow this is the wish list forum so I can always ask even though it has been asked previously.

Thanks again for taking the time providing an answer.

Not here to debate you.  This is the third thread this week (two by you) trolling Hitech on this topic.  Give it a rest.

True but there is some merit in the request. Another game who had a permanent "squelch" is World of Warcraft. This feature was well used by many in the community, including by me and for me at some moments. Al tough i tended to act i little different there than here.

Also i really like the over few this little window gives you and the options it has. As of now if i want to "unsquelch" someone there is no way you can do this in your current session.

Why do I rarely get abuse in game?

There was guy last month who was accusing me of using cheating software, I squelched him :old: (my score is poo so he was just drunk or in a bad mood)

It takes me 5 mins to go into Services to close down programs before I log in, if I have a stalker in game I will squelch them, if I forget and he starts wittering it’s a nice reminder he is on and I block him.

I would rather know someone’s character in game from their behaviour so I can set my session accordingly.

hitech has replied many times why there's no permanent squelch.  just to summarize the answer is no.
