Saitek Pedals Vs Logitech Pedals question?

Can somebody tell me whats the difference in Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and Logitech Pro Flight Rudder Pedals? All I can see is a money difference. Is one better than the other?

Saitek was bought by Logitech a little while ago.  It's the same product, as far as I know.

When I got my Saitek Pro Pedals in 2007, they were $100 and have proven to be a great deal for me. After all of these years, I still don't see any noise or spikes on the toe brakes or rudder axis. There is a centering detent that makes it hard to be precise when near or crossing the center, but many people perform a mod to eliminate that. I am so used to it that it rarely bothers me. Apparently, when MadCatz took over Saitek products, the quality and support dropped quite a bit. It was a bad sign when the Saitek support forums went away. I am curious to see if Logitech restores or even surpasses the original quality.
When (if?) these pedals finally die, I intend to get something a bit more high end with the smoothness and precision of my new VKB MCG Pro stick. But for the price and service life, my Saitek pedals have been pure gold.

The new Logitech rep for the HOTAS/sim side of things has been posting actively in another game's hardware forums, I'll PM him and tell him to stop by here and answer questions.  He's posted quite a bit about the X55/56 and their future plans.

Logitech also aquired Astro headphones, I bought a set of A40s to test out right when they took over, and it took an extra week to get my order sorted out.  They offered me quite a substantial credit for the trouble and extra 10 days it took for me to get my A40s, which I was in no rush for anyone as I have piles of other headsets.  I'd only inquired once as to wth my order was, and they took care of it really quickly, and again, offered more than an adequate bonus for the extra time.

Logitech was really good to deal with, they make great stuff, particularly their mice which go through a lot of testing, and the A40s are in my opinion as good, better in fact, than comparable headsets like the gaming Sennheisers.  Lots of metal in the A40 construction, the rods the cups sit on (adjustment poles) are metal, very solid stuff.  Mic is great too fro the $. 

Anyhow, I'll ask their rep to answer question about their peds, I only have the Saitek combats and rarely use them.  I think their Saitek/Madcatz aquisition will be good for sim hardware, so long as they keep making hotas/pedals, their quality should go up what with Logitech's testing procedures.  Should hopefully be some new stuff coming as well.

Well at this point I'm thinking about going with the VKB Pedals. I'm betting I can add Toe Brakes to them if I want to. I've got a Leo Bodnar BU0836X 12-Bit Joystick Board. I love this thing and it's so easy to use. I think the VKB Pedals and a new Monitor will be fine for a 62nd Birthday. She's buying, I'm flying.

I love this thing and it's so easy to use. I think the VKB Pedals and a new Monitor will be fine for a 62nd Birthday. She's buying, I'm flying.

The VKB  pedals will work as toe brakes too. It's a matter of setting it up in the software. You'd assign a shift key on your stick that would swap the axii from rudder to brakes or something that loosely rhymes with that. I just know it'll work. I have MFG Crosswinds peds.

I really hope so.  My X52 and pedals are pre-Madcatz and I've been using them for 11 years.  I really want to like the X55 for my next stick but I've seen the wiring failures other people have been having.  I hope Logitech tweaks the designs a bit to solve those issues.

My current setup is still going strong, so I have no need to replace yet.  I can't justify a top shelf setup but the low-end VKB looks like a pretty good stick, my only problem with it is I'd be losing a TON of buttons I'm used to.

I'm using the Thrustmaster pedals - they basically feel like CH Pro pedals, but they work really well and include differential braking (I often brake harder on one wheel to the next if I land off-angle).  And they cost 1/3 less than Saitek or Logitech.

I too think that the Logitech acquisition of Saitek/Madcatz is a good move as well. Maybe Logitech will clean up their drivers.

Logitech didn't aquire MadCatz, just Saitek from the sale.  MadCatz went under shortly afterwards, and the brand name was recently purchased by a Chinese group.  I wouldn't expect any thing of great quality coming from MadCatz, it will be the same crap produced hardware that it was before they went under.

Separate now I believe, I think Logitech fully intends to keep the Saitek brand going.  After the demise of Mad Catz, the only thing branded with that name was the old stock you can still find in stores and online.  The new Mad Catz company I think isn't going to get into the joystick controller market, not even sure if they'll go into the 3rd party console controller market either.  It looks like the new Mad Catz is going to invest in eSports/gaming hardware.  Most of their product line up are things like gaming mice, keyboards and headsets.

At this point my love for vkb is waining. There depletion of stock and lack of being able to provide items (which should be in stock) is getting very frustrating. I have now dealt with a joystick with a bad hat switch for over two months while waiting on the mgc Handel for my stick. I have emailed them pmed agerator also emailed Randy Rhodes about it trying to just get a hat switch. Still no answer from them and the production date has changed twice as it is now may 15th with out shipping time.
