Trinity was a quagmire. The problem I had with it at the time was the the high player numbers and bottle necks would make every fight a horde. Eventually one side would start to lose and it would literally be 20 guys left trying to fight off 100 or more. Had they brought down those peaks to about 8k, it would’ve been a lot better to break out and spread the fight throughout the map. I didn’t care for the map until one side would break through and the fights would spread out some.

Even though I didn’t care for it, it was infinitely better than the turd bucket we call buzzaw.

Ya the coastal bases were the ones most fought over due to NOBODY wanting to fly over those mountains. The valley in the 12.9-12.10 sector usually had a big GV battle as well as the one at the 8.7 sector. The map stayed up forever because it took forever to push in from the coast to get the number of bases needed for the win. Far too many support bases.

Even the close coastal bases were very far apart. it was also very difficult to gain a foothold on the coast since a CV had to sail all the way across those seas to get to the enemy coast.

nawwwww it was huge! Even with 500 players on it you had a very hard time making any headway. Like Mak said, once one team or another got a foothold (5-6 bases at the coast) It was easier to move out , but still by no means a "roll the map" type of action.

Even the close coastal bases were very far apart. it was also very difficult to gain a foothold on the coast since a CV had to sail all the way across those seas to get to the enemy coast.

True, but some of those fights with the CVs were epic! I remember one time I think it was "Lynx" who was driving the CV in the SW sea. We were attacking the 3 bases for the western country and it lasted hours! 20-30 divebombing sets of bombers couldnt land enough hits due to his driving and some great gunning. Was a great afternoon of fun.

The old buzzsaw was great for bombing and bomber killing, loved the high fields.

The new buzzsaw is fine.

If people need to log off because of the map that's up, they are playing the game wrong.

Even though I didn’t care for it, it was infinitely better than the turd bucket we call buzzaw.

The further players have fly, the higher altitudes the fight gets. This creates longer sorties. Longer sorties create more timid and E style fighter planes. This creates slower drawn out fights. When one side gains the advantage, the other side has the alt advantage now and can swarm the base. Low defenders now have to battle a hoard. If the defenders kill a few and attackers leave, now they are the hoard against the 1 or 3 red guys left from the hoard. This is how lopsided fights happen. Or if I have to fly 30 miles to a base my team is already suppressing the base, there is no point for me to roll and fly that far. High mountains create the same problem. The best fights normally happen within mid range distances. Especially if back fields are close.

The best way to fix buzzsaw would be to add about another 7-8 bases on each side to make the fighter fields closer together.

I’m glad you think I’m playing wrong. Only been fighting virtual opponents in virtual skies since the 90s. Perhaps I’m not experienced enough to weigh in? I guess I’ve been doing this wrong for over 20 years. Please feel free to educate me on how to do it right. Last I checked, I pay a subscription to fight other humans at the controls of virtual machines.

Seriously. The core of this game is air to air combat. If little/poor/no air combat can be had because of the terrain, the game is failing while that terrain is up. It’s that simple.

No. The map is not fine if people don’t even make the effort when they see it. I made the effort the night I posted this. I cringed when I saw the map but I gave it a shot anyway. My effort yielded zero results and a log. In over two decades, I’ve never logged off because or been so disgusted by a map (that I can remember) before buzzsaw.

In AH2 a few years ago, I remember being able to get CV all the way to the enemy city, and have a huge battle royale there once they discovered it was being shelled.

In the relatively short time I played AH3, I noticed that all CV were starting to be controlled by one person per country who continually sent them to the nearest enemy base such that the enemy only needed to check the clock to know where the CV were.

Don't hate the game, hate the playa.

Waiting for the education on how I’m playing wrong. Kindly impart some of your 18 years of wisdom. Who knows? I could be wrong.

I know the GV guys like it. I’m sure it’s fun for them to blow up strat buildings that don’t shoot back.

:rofl  You assume too much. I have feeling you don't know what goes in that area when the numbers are decent. There are tank fights with major dog fighting overhead. Everybody, not just the GV guys, want to put the hurt on the other countries with the strats are so close. Its a no brainer.

I don't like the map myself but its better than the other small map (name slips my mind) with TT and the airfields which has A8 and A7 sandwiching a fuel strat. It is one of the oldest in the rotation.

The buzzaw tends to have a lot of high altitude fights in my experience plus the majority or half of the airfield you have to climb out of a canyon.

 :salute

Btw, I miss Trinity, especially the middle section. Great memories.
