Help Requested, WIP: P-51D "Croghan Cruiser" / "Waverly Democrat" 361st FG

Okay guys I am throwing up my hands at this point.  I cannot get the yellow the way I want it.  Maybe I did and just don't know it.   The first pic is of my original yellow.  I then desaturated it.  Didn't like that so added more shine to it on the Spec Map.  Still don't like it.  What does it need?

I also need to tweak the red on the nose art.  Not sure I like this either.

I adopted this one from MachNix.

I think this is where Greebo's Power Map shade tutorial comes in.  Seems too sharp and shiny to me...

That's a nice looking skin Vraciu. On the painted areas I'd leave the specularity alone but darken the power map to spread the reflection out more.

I think the sharp highlight on the spinner may be a bug in the shape, some of the Spits have a similar issue. However the rest of the painted area do look a lot less shiny now.

I think the matt finish of the yellow on last screenshots looks better than the glossy finish of the original ones. I'm not sure what the correct finish of the plane was though.
