KOTH was a blast and one of the best in recent memory but it would be even BETTER to have old range channel for in tower communication.
[ Over 20 cans in the bribe Dale fund!! ]

I'd like the old channel 3 range back. You used to be able to find an quiet O'Club to talk to somebody alone, yea... you could do it privately, or just find a quiet room to get away from the noise when not flying.
Also relating to KOTH, it changed the event dramatically as you can not not discuss fights in the tower and keep them from people still fighting, taking away the self-policing aspect of the event.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

KOTH needs the old range in tower voice channel back or at least a CM option for it.

the KOTH problem is easy to solve. Set a KOTH Channel on VOX. when chatting in the tower use VOX, announcement by the moderator on RANGE, Problem solved.  :salute

Talking on a specific channel would be the same issue, unless people are switching channels each round....

The easy fix is for HTC to revert settings and say oops we messed up...didn't think about that.

JunkII that makes no sense. everyone has 1 button for VOX, and a different button for RANGE.  how hard it that to do, that we need to change the Range function instead?

If the CM is on a tunable channel to listen in tower, he can't be on a tunable channel listening to the fights. And F12 range, as it stands, does NOT cover the whole fighting area so that does not solve the problem.
To my knowledge you cant tune the F12 channel and as it stands when you fart in the tower and happen to have the mic open, everyone hears it. [ only one close, lets say he's pushing it away :):ahand
Good thing nobody has wished for smell-o-computer  :uhoh

And I wouldn't say HTC messed up. They made a change to make it more social and interactive, I guess as I have no real idea why it was done, but in regards to KOTH, which hasn't had a HTC employee fly in it in quite some time, it does the complete opposite and hurts the social chatter.  Used to have talks about hey that guy missing his elevator and still kicking butt!! Many other talks about what was going on, hey did you see him do that???? How the heck did he do that? Sometimes talks like that were teaching moments. People would explain the maneuver or offer to go to the TA or someplace and work with the person on it. That's gone.
New range channel has reduced the social interaction in KOTH more than 95%.   And that's just my opinion on 95%, I have not studied it or have a pie chart, don't think Lusche or Snailman ever flew KOTH but maybe he did, it has reduced social interaction in KOTH a lot.

or you can type the players name on your squad channel box-V and talk live

And how does this help a CM monitor the conversation in the fight and the IN tower conversation both at the same time like old range channel did?
With the above I get one conversation and then anyone close enough on new range channel, or you can read the wish.

To under stand this better we need a clear understanding of old range and new range.

Old Range:
People in tower could only hear people in tower
People in flight could only hear people in flight within 6k

New range:
People in tower can hear people in the tower & people in flight within 6K

Is this correct?
If so was the moderator in flight, or in the tower when he monitored the using the old RANGE channel?

CM tuned to VOX101

New range:

CM, not moderator, may or may not fly depending on attendance
That statement seems to reflect a certain time and place where something occurred and  I'm talking about every round during the whole event

 :salute

I think you have had to attend before and after KOTHs to really see the difference and NO HTC employee has flown a KOTH since the change I'm pretty sure. Heck they wouldn't even notice the change unless they attended one way back.
I really don't even think a bribe would help get it back.

I'm going to unwish old range channel, I don't think anything will change it. What do I know about a good KOTH anyway.
Way too many other wiz-bang new-and-improved things going on to even consider it, I'm sure.
