The problem with posting mission is that every player on your country can see them.

That's why so many missions are busted.
This is why missions shouldn’t be a secret in the first place.

Most seem poorly organized and poorly led.

I wish pickup missions were still done frequently and with the same enthusiasm we used to have for them.  Do you guys want to see a really funny mission?  Just click the link below but keep in mind that although the clip perfectly illustrates the average pileup mission that has become common, it was completely out of character for the mission poster shown who simply forgot to compensate for the forward blindspot found on all tail draggers as well as the complete and utter short-sightedness of the Aces High combat engineers.

I'll treat it like field off dreams, if I post it, they will come.... Keep any comments/tips coming guys, all helpful!

Bish/Knights, do you have anyone still that runs pickup missions? Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Keep them simple, USE NOE sparingly.

Do not change everybody's plane to a F4U-1C or any other Perk ride at the last moment because it will cost you some regular joiners in the long run.  Trust me, I learned that one that hard way.  Don't get me wrong, it was a really fun mission but it still cost me some regular joiners who were upset over my little 3 card monte trick.

And do fun crazy missions too just for the heck of it, with no particular objective other than to have fun and confuse the enemy.  Once BWDelta posted a huge (& ordinanceless) D3A1 mission that was a ton of fun because we got about 30 joiners.  The defenders upped the usual spitfires, La7s and Brewskies to defend but none of those planes can out turn a D3A1.  Fixed Gear & Obsolescence be damned, we had a great time and we kicked butt until they whittled us down and we were unable to run home.  Video Below

Just curious for myself when I create "Pickup Missions"....

What are the top three reasons you do NOT join a posted pickup mission?

Example:
A- I'm already in flight
B- Mission is too long
C- I don't like the mission type/aircraft selection
D- Wait, there's a mission?!
E- Mission isn't to capture a base
F- KB is a jerk-face that smells funny when I formation fly with him... :devil

Please keep your answers to simple bullet points, and my ego is fragile so if it's all F, then u guys can go suck lemons...  :devil

A- I'm already in flight

I love missions.  If I pass on a mission it's usually A.  If you don't include my favorite airplane, P-38, I will often not join formally and just take my Lightning on the mission anyway. I have had one or two occasions where a mission leader asked me not to take a plane that wasn't listed, and I respect that.

More missions!

That's a great point also.  Especially if you're new to the mission poster role.

Give everyone a heads up 15 or 20 minutes before you even post it.

You can also set up a mission rally point at some random base far away from the front line so you can discuss your plans on range channel.

You can also find an empty channel to use as your mission channel because the mission joiners always have questions and many will wish to give you some input.

A lot of players like myself prefer to pick their own plane and find it extremely helpful to know where the target is and what you plan to do when you get there.  These guys can be very helpful if you have them go take out the radar or kill the VH's at bases that spawn to your target base before your mission enters the ring.   I personally like to launch early to get as much alt as possible and I prefer to know where the mission is going so I can do it in a different sector so I don't give warning about the mission to the country being attacked.

A,B, & C, in that same order.
