El Alamein BF 109G-2
« on: April 22, 2019, 11:06:00 PM »
Bf 109G-2 flown by Wolf-Dietrich Huy of 7./Jg 77 at the Second Battle of El Alamein in late October 1942. This unit(and the other 2 squadrons of III/Jg 77) had just arrived in Italy after being transferred from the Eastern Front then the Second Battle of El Alamein began on October 23rd. Because of the urgent need to deploy to Egypt, the aircraft never received desert camouflage and instead continued with the existing dark greens suited to the forests of northern Russia. Only white theater markings were applied. Huy's aircraft sports 39 victory marks as well as kill marks for 9 ships. An illustration of his Knight's Cross also adorn the rudder. He would score another victory before being shot down October 29th and taken prisoner. He would remain a POW for the remainder of the war.

The inscription around the wolf's head emblem of III/Jg 77 reads "Wander Zircus Ubben" (Ubben's Traveling Circus) in reference to the the Gruppe's recent habit of being deployed to the heaviest action of the summer and autumn of 1942. From June at Bagerovo in the Crimea, to Kharkov in Ukraine, then to Germany for two week to re-equip with 109G-2's, from there to Leningrad in response to the Soviet Sinyavino Offensive before being transferred to Italy in mid October. The trip to Italy included a stop in Germany before flying to Bari in southern Italy, and from there the emergency deployment in Egypt. In 4 months, the Kurt Ubben led Gruppe traveled over 5000 miles and participated in 4 major engagements.

Very nice!  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Very nice! I do skins for a program called Real Flight (RC Aircraft trainer) I wan't to add to our library of skins myself. I hope I will find the time to do so at some point. Love it though, Fredrick is my favorite 109 so your skin is a winner in my book.
