Ok, first and foremost.. DAMNNNNNN!!! What a pleasure it was getting schooled today in open mealee!! I've been a video game pilot for 20yrs, and a damn good one.. played the hell out of War Online Pacific and was kicking ass.. I felt ready so I paid my $14.95 dues with the intent of insta-domination... hahahaha... Fly for 5 minutes to get to the battlefield, 30seconds to get shot down and repeat.. 6 different planes and 3 hours later, i humbly bow my head in respect to you killers out there.. I am currently in the field medical hospital suffering from Extreem Noobism deficiency disorder.. Hoping to be cleared for flight again soon...
One thing is certain.. I am here to stay.. love it.. so I have a slew of questions hoping to get answered in effort to help me fast track my learning curve
Welcome! I was hoping you would come over from War Online. You seemed enthusiastic and we need that here.
1.) I am using Oculus Rift to play in VR. Is everybody in the open melee arena in VR or is it cross platform with vr and non vr players in same arena? Is everybody in rift or is it mix htc and rift?
AH supports a number of VR setups. many types are used, but as a guess I think maybe less than a third use VR. the rest use hat switches or in the case of old timers the number pad on the keyboard. Dont think it gives you an advantage with VR. I have used all three setups and I still think my thumb moves faster than my head in VR

But yes all versions .... thumb, number pads, and VR are are used in the arenas.
2.) Comms... I figured out the mic well enough, is it all chat where both friendly and enemy can communicate or is it just team chat?
when you hit the "/" key by default it opens the radio bar. Each of the first 4 drop downs can be set to different channels, all text channels. The last box is VOX or voice over internet. Drag you mouse over the name/number and type in a new channel on any of the drop downs. Under 200 is country/team, over 200 is all three countries/teams.
3.) when In tower, how can you change your jump off point or are you designated one spawn point? It seems that I am often very far from the battle.
As Mongoose said, double clicking on any green base on the map will move you to that field. Remember, upping at a field in the middle of the action means you'll be low and slow for all those killers that are higher and faster. Most people up one bas back from the action and use the time from the back base to get a bit of altitude and speed. Some take it to extremes and climb to 20k+, other set a cap at 10K and work the fights from there, or less. Its up to you how much of an alt advantage you want to give the enemy.
4.) what are the objectives other than shooting down the enemy? How does a team capture an enemy airfield?
You need the guns in town (or on the field for vehicle bases), and a white flag for airfield towns (yellow dot near fields on the map), or Vehicle hangers down at vehicle bases to drop 10 troops either by M3, or C47 "goonie" to capture the fields. Listening in on "local" (purple) channel on the radio can help you follow along with what other players near you on your team are doing.
There are also "Achievements" you can earn. While they dont help win the war they are sometimes fun to complete and help you earn those "stars" you see next to other players names.
I really appreciate your help gents and all I will say is this.. enjoy shooting me down now while Im noobing because before long I'll be the guy that you HAVE to look out for and I will be doing it in the oddball planes that nobody really uses.. 😉😎
Again, Thank you for the schooling today, good job to the enemy that repeatedly shot me down and to the team I was on.. deepest apologies for being cannon fodder and a hindrance to the mission..

SAAM I AM
Im guessing your name in the game is SAAMIAM. If it is your doing pretty good, 4 kills, 1 assist in 13 sorties. This game is tough, and most of the guys/gals you'll be flying against have been doing it a long time. I myself have been playing this game for 13 years and STILL get shot down a lot. As long as you have fun and dont let the "deaths" bother you this game is a blast! There is lots to learn, and lots to do. A lot of friendly people are here and are very willing to help you out.
Never worry about asking questions, between all of us here, we have an answer.
Again, Welcome!
