My biggest beef with the current AHE V2 is the look around functions.
In V1, I can use my stick's hat switches to look around me while I "asjust" the terrain.

In V2, I have to stop, move sliders, click, then move over the area I clicked.
As soon as I move, the view reverts to "Overhead" and I can't get a good feel for the flow of the land.

I also like that V1 "holds" the move/rotate/set/etc. functions until I change them buy clicking on a different function.
In V2, if you move an object and don't quite like it, you have to click move again.  V1 saves a few hundred extra clicks when setting objects.  ;)

Hello Viper

I just fly around in the editor2 just like doing an F5 in the offline mode.

Pull in and hold the ( button 3 ) and then move the throttle slowly and move the stick around like you are flying.

Also I like the 1 time move button.  Use to forget to switch in the 1.03 version and would make the objects disappear in the terrain.  What a pain in the tulips it was.

Button 3...My joystick/throt are set so that only Button 1 is a "Joystick" button.  The rest are keyboard actions and changing programs is not as easy as some. Quite a chore in fact.
I guess if there were a way to change the Key Mapping like Version 1, then I would be OK on this point.
Maybe I will play around with some stick programs later and see if I can get game behaviors to agree with AHE behaviors.

I know what you mean about the 1 time select function causing havoc if you forget, but my experience is that I make more clicks on the selector in version 2 than mistakes in Version 1. < shrug >
Perhaps an "Undo" function and the "Hold Selection" would work?

BTW, do you know what "Water not 0" does?
I tried it and got some very strange results.

Water not 0 is....
Water MUST be at 0 level for the ships. That is a must!! Water not 0 takes you to the vortex's ( anyone of the 9 parts ( vortexs of a single tile) that are not set to zero level. It will take you to 144 vortexs at one time, there maybe thousands of water vortexs that are NOT set to level 0 and you will need to constantly repeat this process. Once you are taken to these vortexs you need to set them to 0 (zero) elevation.

Any Water that you will not have ships on, like a small lake or river deep inside land doesn't have to be level zero.

Viper how many buttons do you have on your joystick?

It didn't matter what they are mapped to.

Button 1 makes your view look straight down on the terrain.

Button 2 makes you move backwards using throttle.

Button 3 makes you move forwards using the throttle.

Moving the joystick while moving gives you views from all angles.

If you only have a 1 button joystick I would recommend getting one with 4 buttons.

P.S. Christmas is coming.......are you nice? hehe  :D

AHEditor have its own settings folder, so I believe you can set your Joystick any way you like to *Fly* over edited terrains.
It is not neccesary to be the same setting you need to *Fight* in Aces High.
The same applies to keyboard settings.

I have a CH F16 Fighter Stick, 4 buttons, 4 hats.
The problem is not the button quantity, but the setting.  Buttone 1 is a "Joystick" Button.  If I recall correctly, the other buttons can be set to "Joystick" buttons 2-4, but then I will need to change those button functions in AH to get what I need.
I will try this later today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Viper

Gral,
I think you are talking about Version 1.
In version 2, I don't think you can adjust the controls and keyboard settings.
