Maybe, but I also got the impression there is not much point to it anymore. Is that accurate?
You might come to that conclusion...by seeing some BBS threads
IMO, not much changed from AH2-AH3, well not as much change as some would like to believe. Most things stayed the same..but for assumed/"Because its NEW so must be different" beliefs. Lately DESPITE the "Too many trees" complaints, most Base Capture attempts have gone towards the GV first attack. So Bombers and a player who can get it done(WF a town flatten a Vbase ect) could be a VALUABLE TEAM MATE. There are great Bomber guys dont get me wrong, but the Bomber First tactics have been left wanting for some time. I hear NOE isnt doable because of Radar and terrain changes...NOT FACTUAL. GV dar has changed the game...OK, then why are GVs th first option these days on base take attempts? See what I mean? These attempts dont usually garner successful Captures, and if they do its because of keeping at it for much longer than necessary. This also contributes to the Attitude of "THESE changes ruined the game". Is it different? YES are the OLD WAYS still possible....YES Radar is same as for NOE/ Radar up/Down altitudes, ranges. GV dar lets you know what is attacking a field. Without it you still had base flashing. Maybe NOE raid, maybe GVs. Now you know what it is. Its not a BANNER/Neon sign saying here he is. If it was, noone would feel the need to log out and check film viewer
The only issue as per bombers that I dont like...The ICON changes. Every plane use to be a DOT on radar. Now you can see Fighters and Bombers with their own designation on radar. Simple solution though...as previously mentioned...kill the RADAR. Used to be ACT 1 of any base take attempt. These days its KILL THE ORD...from GVs that spawn in first thing. Dont cry about bomb****s if you leave Ord up. To me, its more that folk have forgotten how to win maps, more than any changes to game play by HT. That and most of the folk who would put together missions no longer play, some for the perceived reasons I just wrote about.
