Bombing Questions
« on: July 08, 2019, 08:50:13 PM »
I have a few quick questions on Bombing
1. Is there an active squadron dedicated to the bombing?
2. What members are recognized as "Great at Bombing"?
3. Reading the info available it seems to be with relation to low-level bomb runs. Does high-altitude bombing have issues that are not apparent? Excluding the time needed and vulnerability to fighter attacks? New and trying to learn...
Thanks to all replies!

Tripp,  I have responded to your message about the info you have requested.  As far as this post goes, I would be more than happy to teach you the finer points of bombing and save you a lot of time.  We could find a time that is convenient and meet to turn you into a top notch bomber.  Just let me know when you reply to my message.

The Dickweeds still fly High Alt Bomb missions...Tuesday evenings? The SickPuppies also fly Bombing missions...they are more of a whatever night they have numbers group. Its really a matter of Patience IMO. Most players these days are about the How can I get into action the quickest. No High Alt issues that I know of? The Training arena has Airspawns at 25k...for bombing practice..offline and On line. Also, you could do A LOT worse than take 1i's help...class act and he is pretty good player :aok

Quite a lot I guess, considering it's actually difficult to be "Bad at Bombing" with the way it's set up in AH  :devil

Maybe, but I also got the impression there is not much point to it anymore.  Is that accurate?

Everything in AH has the same point. Have fun playing a game online with WW2 tech. For some people that's flying bombers.

That depends on how you define "point", why you would want to fly a bomber.

You might come to that conclusion...by seeing some BBS threads  :uhoh IMO, not much changed from AH2-AH3, well not as much change as some would like to believe. Most things stayed the same..but for assumed/"Because its NEW so must be different" beliefs. Lately DESPITE the "Too many trees" complaints, most Base Capture attempts have gone towards the GV first attack. So Bombers and a player who can get it done(WF a town flatten a Vbase ect) could be a VALUABLE TEAM MATE. There are great Bomber guys dont get me wrong, but the Bomber First tactics have been left wanting for some time. I hear NOE isnt doable because of Radar and terrain changes...NOT FACTUAL. GV dar has changed the game...OK, then why are GVs th first option these days on base take attempts? See what I mean? These attempts dont usually garner successful Captures, and if they do its because of keeping at it for much longer than necessary. This also contributes to the Attitude of "THESE changes ruined the game". Is it different? YES   are the OLD WAYS still possible....YES Radar is same as for NOE/ Radar up/Down altitudes, ranges. GV dar lets you know what is attacking a field. Without it you still had base flashing. Maybe NOE raid, maybe GVs. Now you know what it is. Its not a BANNER/Neon sign saying here he is. If it was, noone would feel the need to log out and check film viewer :rofl  The only issue as per bombers that I dont like...The ICON changes. Every plane use to be a DOT on radar. Now you can see Fighters and Bombers with their own designation on radar. Simple solution though...as previously mentioned...kill the RADAR. Used to be ACT 1 of any base take attempt. These days its KILL THE ORD...from GVs that spawn in first thing. Dont cry about bomb****s if you leave Ord up. To me, its more that folk have forgotten how to win maps, more than any changes to game play by HT. That and most of the folk who would put together missions no longer play, some for the perceived reasons I just wrote about.

Don't let the naysayers get to you.  There are many folks around here who complain about everything.

Some of the most fun I've had is escorting bomber missions.  On the other hand, some of the best fun I've had is defending against a bombing mission.

Keep in mind that there are people who fly low alt, mid alt and high alt missions. If you are in to flying in the envelope as close as is allowed then you will find that there is a lot of fun to be had utilizing all three and in some instances a fourth (heavy fighter) plane styles.

People are gonna people, just focus on yer rides and learn yer guns.

This post made me miss the Bloody 100th, even more now.
We were a high alt. bomber squad back in the day, flying B-17's.  Had great fun.
We'd take a break from bombing and jump in some fighters, but bombers was our homes.
Hope you can find some great people like the ones in my squad.
