LOL!  I do know how to zoom into the map - but it just does not zoom in far enough!  I would like to be able to see exactly where I am on a field when I am on the ground (both for capture and defending purposes)  :)

Unlike in AW, when you're in a goon you can use the external view--hit F3. That way you can simply use the down/forward view and drop em right on the map room--just gotta be above 1K--also unlike the 500ft min in AW. That's what I do. Took 4 bases last night too : )

Flos I've often wondered if this guy was our old buddy SlayR from AW on steroids. What a maroon! Pay no attention to him.

Messin with our buddy Flossie. Not good : )

Thanks Thunder, I came on these boards just now thinking along similar lines.  I don't know if you are referring to the goon incident yesterday, or if this is a regular occurrence, but I have to say his attitude towards me was nothing short of disgusting - in fact, one of my squad mates ended up logging solely because of him.

I admit to being fairly new to Aces High, and having 'grown up' with Air Warrior for the last three years, some things are taking some getting used to.  One aspect is the capturing of airfields, which is something I only recently started attempting as my confidence has grown... I am used to simply flying over a field at just over 500 feet and dropping the troops, with a field being captured as they touch down.  I realise it works differently here, in that they have to get to the maproom before the capture happens, so that landing the goon is the preferred method.  Unfortunately, I am not yet fully familiar with the layout of all the fields.  Although I do have maps of them all, I still find it difficult to know exactly where I am on a field when I am on the ground - being able to zoom right in on the map, as we can in Air Warrior, would help enormously!  As I remember as I landed yesterday (I had to overfly the field first due to being too fast at first, and was not lined up properly when I came around) the field was fairly active as enemy aircraft attempted to take off, so I obviously wanted to avoid them, and kept well away when I kicked out the troops.  Apparently I was not near enough to the maproom and they didn't all make it.

OK, I felt bad that my capture attempt had failed - but similar happens in Air Warrior on a very regular basis, so I am used to not always being successful.  Yes it can be frustrating, but in the end it is just a game!  So what is the point of getting all hot and bothered because of one failed capture attempt?

Any confidence I had built up recently has just got completely blown out of the window by this guy.

Cheers Gunman26!  I can honestly say in my three years of flying AW and now AH I have never come across anyone as obnoxious as you - attacking players who are on your own side!  Believe me, I have seen people ranting in AW... I was one of the volunteer staff there, so monitoring the radio channels was a requirement, but never did I see anything like your behaviour towards me!  It was absolutely deplorable!

Actually Drano, since the Torch update last week, external views are now available on all aircraft/vehicles in AW.   :)

Thanks for the tip with using it for dropping troops, though.... I may try that if I ever attempt to capture a field again...  ;)

LOL, thanks for those kind words, Drano.  Well, I don't think even SlayR was that bad, in fact we got on OK as far as I remember...  :)

Maybe there's hope! Gunman26 actually congratulated someone who killed him yesterday (kbman). This surprised the whole arena. Let's hope this trend continues...

ALL OF THEM? Good God it gets worse by the minute doesn't it? I won't be checking it out.

You WILL try again lady! Don't let that idiot put a stop to your fun. If it were me I'd take a goon again and drop em outside the field JUST to piss him off! But I know you'd never do that ; ) Goes to that class act thingy.

Flossy,

Have you ever considered changing to the Knights?  A few reasons why, are:

1) We will appreciate anyone who wants to fly a goon.
2) Gunman26 is not a Knight
3) We have the coolest chess piece
4) Gunman26 is still not a Knight
5) We have the most versatile chess piece
6) Did I mention Gunman26 is not a Knight
7) Our sheep are less molested and thus, fresher
8) Last I checked, Gunman26, not a Knight
9) Fresher sheep are more friendly and kick less
10) Finally, you can shoot and kill as many times as you want, Gunman26 and not have to worry about killshooter  :D

C’ya up (as a Knight)

LOL, thanks for the offer, Zippatuh!  However, I am a member of the Krait Squadron, who are Bishops.  I have been in the Kraits for 3 years now, so I have no intention of leaving them!   :)

Hehe we had a guy KBear in AW a while back. Same deal--totally disruptive juvenile A**hole. Bunch of guys staged a "denial of points" attack against his squad, RAF something or other. Death by association! Just hunted all of THEM until they kicked him out. He would always alt from the other side of the map runnin his mouth and just ran if engaged. His squaddies loved him so. Think it took all of a week maybe for them to dump his sorry a**. Hehe. Before long he faded from view too. Thank cod!
