The perk point bonus for the auto-switch option
« on: January 29, 2021, 07:19:09 PM »
Not a fan, though I think the autoswitch thing was an excellent idea. Will really help people who just want to fight and find fights.

The perk point bonus though?

The players who will be selecting autoswitch will almost exclusively be the guys have been here for years if not a decade or more and have already gone a long way to perfecting their dogfighting skills. An avalanche of new perk points will encourage them to up uber stuff and become even less killable. They'll have fun; but the newer and less competent guys will be molested even more thoroughly than before and it probably won't be good for the longevity of the game as a whole.

My $.02.

Time will tell, but I didn't observe jets or Temps tonight.  Seemed to me that the experiment is working well.

A different question is:  Will that continue, or will people figure out ways to screw things up?

Haven't tried it yet, but very eager to fly this weekend.

Nah, I have 18,000 perks and only fly a perk plane in desperate hoarding situations to break it up, or very rarely just for fun and giggles. I do think too many vets fly high eny super planes which doesn't help a noob at all. A noob getting ganged is dead quickly no matter what they are in. Less people in super planes would actually be better for a noob, even though the noob cannot fly a super plane yet. He would be able to after a month anyway.
Perking more of these late war planes would limit their usage and make the fights more fun, and actually easier for new players because most players would not fly perk planes as much, as we can see from the overall plane stats. It would also bring more meaning to perks. No idea why tanks have 1-10 perk ratings but very late war planes dont...

Folks that have been here already are loaded with perks. I have about 60,000.
The perks are to get other folks to switching too. I think it is great and the limited time multiplier, at that setting, will just bring attention to it.

What about the guys who been gone ten plus years and have no perks.

I hope we never see this again. It just promotes vulching and camping. I'll pass. I dont fly perk planes anyways.

I guess there was no harm in trying it.

Perks don't affect my choice of ride.  I get interested in different planes for a variety of reasons...lately Spit V, likely soon to switch to whatever I'll fly in the upcoming Leyte scenario.  When I want to try a perk plane for a while I always have plenty of perks available.

Most all my perks have been acquired flying the 38j. I still fly the 38j.

I think the whole thing is flawed because it's based on Gross country numbers, not local numbers at a base or in a sector. Case in point: IT puts me on Knits and I'm defending a base with 5 people against 12 Bish. I get shot down and go to re-up only now I'm across the maps on Rooks because the rooks dropped a few people.   So now Knits are worse off because they are 4 vs 12. Not to mention I wanted to stay I was enjoying the defensive stand. Even worse was the Bish and knight s were fighting each other...so the Rooks had nothing to do! I was at a base with one con and three guys chasing him off in the distance. booo.

Maybe an improvement would be If the algorithm looked at sectors and tried to keep fights balanced instead of country total numbers.  :salute

Overall I thinknits working. Fights seem better balanced. I think it would be nice to give you a warning you are about to get switched and give you the option to disable it (with the associated tjme penalty)

Yes, have encountered this too, but my initial impression is it's helping, but the tweak you've suggested seems like an improvement, assuming it's practical to code it.

I agree, and this seems like you've suggested a good tweak atlau.

Seems to keep the sides balanced but if all three sides have 25 players it doesn't keep 2 of the sides from ganging the third side... hmm

They say, "everyone has his price".  It appears that X10 is it for many.  With the bonus set to X3, the Bish now outnumber both other teams combined -- as is usual, for this time of day.   Even with 18% of players enabling auto-switch.

I'm gonna stick with it, would be nice to see random weekends that have a larger bonus.
