Fantastic film, best Sci Fi film I've seen in ....years.  Might be the best SciFi film I've seen ever.

Had you read the book? I’m curious if the story made sense to someone who would never read the book.
Toxic, psychotic, self-aggrandizing drama queens simply aren't worth me spending my time on.

I will ask my wife on Wednesday.  Though, while not having read the book(s), she has watched the David Lynch version before.
I have read the book several times since I was 16  :old:

If she says, “it was OK, but they forgot to put in that cool voice-activated sonic weapon. “

Then you’ll have no choice but to divorce her.

I read Dune in the early '70s and it blew my mind... the first attempt
to make it into a movie (DeLaurentis I beileve) was lacking in that it DID not accurately
depict the feint within feint within feint that I enjoyed in the book
I really think, given the restraints of a budget, NO movie will ever live up
to the majesty of the book  :aok

Read the whole series plus the sons prequels. Probably about time to start it over again.

I've read the first few books, and the first book numerous times - to answer your question, yes, the story could be followed by a non reader of the book(s).  Obviously some things will make more sense having read the first book, or at least having a rough familiarity with the material.  IMO they certainly didn't "dumb down" anything in order to capture more ticket sales or anything like that.

So says the person who omits common punctuation at the end of both his sentences.  So hah!

I found cat piss to taste marginally better than Budweiser.

I will ask my wife on Wednesday.

According to her, the story was very accessible and much clearer than in Mr Lynch's overly ambitious version. It certainly helped that the movie only tried to cover the first half of the book.

I leave out punctuation whilst posting when I am having a big dump on the toilet.

Your Budweiser comment is refreshing  :rofl

I doubt the new will be better than the old. Will be rare if it is.

Well as the "old" one was crap, this really cant be worst. Just from the trailers it looks a hundred times better.
