ENY isn't working in the mornings
« on: October 20, 2021, 07:01:13 AM »
The two in-flight bishops just logged off because it was no fun being rolled by 14 knights. I don't think there were any in-flight rooks at all. Because of tower sitters, the 14-5-3 advantage in knight numbers didn't translate into an advantage the two of us could leverage to at least slow the knights down. Presumably the knights are now rolling an empty-of-enemy map, and, sadly, this matters to me much less than it would have in the past.

Subscribers have complained about tower sitters for seemingly ever and HT has done nothing to address it. I wish I knew why.  If ENY had been more representative of the actual number of active players there would have been at least a faint chance of slowing the horde, but it wasn't representative, and it wasn't fun, so RedG and I logged off.

If people were willing to switch sides that would of course help, and the perk point bonus autoswitch idea was a good one, but people will apparently almost always prefer to roll with the horde. Addressing the tower sitter problem is the only way I can think of to make things at least a little better for outnumbered players this time of day.

I can see why tower sitters are included in ENY; it would be so easy to game the system if it were otherwise.

Also, Bish complaining about a morning horde....     :rofl :rofl :rofl

What's considered a horde nowadays? 2-3 players?

I read this, and couldn't figure out who it was that was sitting in the tower and causing a problem.  Fourteen Knights against two Bishops clearly is a hording issue, but what's that got to do with tower sitting?

I'm curious too. It's just low numbers - are you saying the ENY needs a threshold before it kicks in?

I believe it does have a threshold before it kicks in, I dont know the numbers, but with only 22 players in the arena, Im guessing they were under it..... someone put out the "Lusche Signal!"

A lot of problems could be solved, or atleast eased with larger numbers, but it looks like Hitech is all done trying to bring numbers in any more. It is what it is. "Love it or Leave" should be the new motto.

Knight ENY was 15.5 or something close to that with the actual number of people logged on: it probably would have been in the mid to high 20s if tower sitters had been excluded. A higher knight ENY would have made them fly less capable planes and made 262s and such cheaper for RedG and me. Not that I think I have ever even flown one in AH3 lol. But if they were cheap enough and the enemy had to resort to Ju88s and He 111s...well, there's a first time for everything!

I didn't look closely at the rook roster so don't know who was sitting over there, but serial tower sitters gldnbb and cybro were doing nothing for the bishops, as was Alpha One.

funny, bishops were hording the knights pretty bad last night. one knight told bishops to make sure they take more bases as he was gonna log in on the morning and take them all back.

guess he kept his word.

Ah.  So it's the two tower-sitters on your own side that caused the problem.  I get it.

262 has to be the most boring to fly airplane in AH, not sure that would have offset the horde.  Tempest, now, that's a different issue...

I loves me a good Tempest kill early in the morning. Don't we Oldman? Especially if they're thumped with a mid-war airplane. :D

Hordes are alive and well. +8 deep during slow hrs, +12 during active hrs. Morning bish crew will easily run +15 deep with 8-10 spread out between rooks and knights. Vice versa with Knights at certain times. I don't think you can say rooks horse. There is a window between 6-9pm CST my time where rooks will fighter horde a base but other than that you don't see much in the way of typical hording. That's why I like to call them rook swarms. They will up 15-20 deep at a base to defend if your not careful.

Any horde should ring the dinner bell.  You may not stop the take, but you can collect a lot of scalps with some brazen flying in the right plane.  Go get em! OINK  :airplane:
