Resupply
« on: January 05, 2022, 07:11:54 PM »
Let me apologize in advance if the answer to this is somewhere in the archives, but if it is, I can't find it.

The setup:  Lately I've had a lot of fun resupplying fields, factories, and so forth using the C47.  It's a fun a/c to fly and it's very forgiving, which, with my skill level, is a plus.  Aside from a bomber, you very seldom find yourself with a 190, a P47, or a P51 up your wazoo.  I know that you cannot resupply a field from the same field where you launch.

The question:  When you resupply vehicles, using a Fiesler Storch, can you launch from the same field the where the vehicle is located, OR do you have to launch from another field?

The next question: Is there a minimum altitude necessary to drop a resupply bundle?  I know that troops need to go out of a C47 at least 800 feet higher than the field.  I've dropped cargo at 500-600 feet and gotten the 'xx buildings supplied' message.  But I can't tell if what I drop in  support of a vehicle is received.

The 'rules' say that the player in need will get an onscreen message to accept supplies, but there's no cue to tell me if that happened.  I'm generally on the vox channel but I am hard of hearing and (I've been told) my thick Southern accent is incomprehensible to my fellow players.  So, mostly I can hear what others say, and sometimes I can understand what they say, but I don't think I can make my point verbally to a huge majority of players.  Your patience is appreciated.

As for the Storch, it's a fun little bird to fly and doing so when there are enemy gvs and a/c in the area lends a bit of tension that you don't get from coming through at 20K in a B24.  But I don't want to waste my time, and my team mates time, launching a Storch when it won't do anyone any good.

So, I'm still having fun and living the dream, but there are things I don't know and can't find out without asking.  And Happy New Year!

Great to see a player having fun and bringing it up here!  We could use a hundred more like you, Decoy.

Yes, you can supply vehicles with 'vehicle supply' cargo that originated from the same field where the vehicle is located.

I don't know about a minimum drop height for vehicle supplies, sorry/

With the storch, you have to land and drop sups. Same field YES. Cargo with C47, same as troops 800agl., but from different field. Well all Base Sups have to be from another field, c-47, m3 ect. :aok  FUN...is what this should be all about :D Glad you are having some :rock

Happy New Year too!

Players will adjust to your accent if they hear you enough, unless they’re from the middle of Ireland  :rofl

Only thing I can add is that you won’t know in most cases if the GV received the supplies you put out unless they say they got them.

Fi needs to be on the ground, stopped and within 800yds to receive the supplies. If they are tracked/engine out, you’ll need to go to them.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

I think my problem was actually with my mic level, but I'm not sure.  Omen told me how to adjust it the other day and he said he could hear me perfectly when I made the change.

As for resupply,  this is all I found in the guidelines.  "A vehicle supply type is also available to repair and supply vehicles with ordnance. When these supplies are dropped, any friendly vehicle within a half mile radius receives a Load Supplies button on their screen. Clicking this button will use the supplies to both repair and rearm their vehicle. If the supplies are unused, they vanish after 15 minutes. Vehicle supplies will not replenish troops or supplies."

I'll give landing and 'dropping' a shot and see how that works.

Just like in real life, if you put a box on the ground, anyone nearby can see it, right?

yes....enemy vehicles can also see and use your supplies if they are in range....sometimes if you are hidden in your gv and supplying teammates, you would drop one box at a time when your team needs it.  or you gobble up all the excess supplies that your team has dropped if no one needs them...also gobble up boxes dropped by the enemy after you swipe one to keep them from using it.....you only see the supply icon on your screen if you are stopped...
