Yeah because gov projects never go over budget.

That was the point of the article, from the SFGate (our of San Francisco) to show exactly what you are stating.

It's title includes "Lawmakers' estimate falls far short of total, research service says".

The article gives the $49B estimate as being much higher than the official government one.

Why do you have that hate?

Because he breathes?

I'm well read, highly educated, and authoritarian hating.

Then you would not be welcome in the American First Trump worship party. The first time you disagreed with the Orange Pig-God you would be banished as a RINO.

The article gives the $49B estimate as being much higher than the official government one.

And those estimates are also ridiculous.

Luckily we won't have to find out how much Trumps total vanity wall would cost us.  We'll use much more reasonable approaches and Trump will die in prison.

Win-win.

I find it astonishing that someone even admits to being a Biden man. LOL.

See that guy? That's Joe Biden. He's my guy!

that's only for 700 miles.

Yes.  In that proposed plan, the other parts are surveillance.

But for the full 2000 miles, take the cost for 700, multiply by 3.

doesn't include labor or land acquisition

"both of which could drive the price billions of dollars higher."

Point being:  it is not $trillions.  It is 1/10th of that.

10x for the towns and highways that would need to be created.

10x for gov cost overruns.

And then that's still in 2006 dollars.

Maybe not a trillion, but way more than would be reasonable to waste for Trump's self-aggrandizement.

I answered your question, immediately and graciously/politely. The least you could do is accept such in the same manner. If you were intent on baiting others to have an excuse to continue acting out then so be it.

59 billion x 3. plus labor, plus land acquisition and soon you are talking trillions. don't forget delivery costs, even home depot charges mileage. and don't forget lawsuits well because nobody wants land taken away. and don't forget costs of materials go up. then you need a places to set up the workers...

So we can give billions to other countries but we can't build a wall and secure our border?

Border security is not a Trump vanity project. Millions of Americans want that wall built and completed. ALL Americans should want that border secured, but apparently the Democrats do not want a secure border. They also do not want any form of voter ID.

By the way, the people who work the border love the wall and say its effective in slowing down the unstoppable flood into something they can manage.

Walls do work. Just like the walls around gated communities. No one is stupid enough to think walls are 100 percent secure, but they are a huge deterrant.

The border plan was for a wall, surveillance and a physical presence.

Do you think you can just walk in and out of North Korea?

Lots of countries have effective border walls and security. Not us - and you can always thank a democrat for that.

I'm not looking to start a fight.  I'm honestly interested in why you hate him so deeply.

I disagree.

I have lots of pals who hate Trump, and lots of pals who like Trump, and some in between.

I lived in left-leaning King County, WA for 20 years.  I lived in right-leaning Williamson County, TN for the past year.

In my experience, it is by far the left-leaning regions and folks who are intolerant and hateful towards "the other side".  Now, this is in my experience -- people I know and places I lived.  It could of course be different for other folks and where they live.

They can't point out any Trump policies that they despise. It's just a personal hatred of Trump himself. He could have secured the border, ended all war, and made everyone rich and they would have still wanted him gone so they can be flushed down the toilet under Biden.

That's how TDS works. Irrational and insane morons.

I don't think it would be that much.

I also don't think it is for Trump's self-aggrandizement.

Trump took up border wall because he saw that a portion of the population was highly in favor of it.  He could adopt that issue as part of a strategy to get elected.  If no one cared about that, I doubt he would have made that part of his platform.

It's a stupid boondoggle.
https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/trump-border-wall-ladders/

Securing the border is fine.  But the vast majority of that mileage can be easily be covered with remote sensors and drones for tiny fraction of the cost of Trump's vanity wall that would be crushingly expensive and totally ineffective.

You want to fix illegal immigration?  Throw a couple of hundred rich factory\food processing executives in prison for employing illegal labor.  95% of the problem would disappear immediately.  Problem is, those are probably Republican donors.

The real answer is to setup a guest worker program.  These immigrants are doing useful work that benefits our society.  Their presence and movements should be managed but both countries would benefit from the exchange given the US weakening demographics.  The workers would also benefit by being paid proper wages and not be vulnerable to abuse because of their status.  They would essentially have the status of non-resident green card holders.  A lot of them wouldn't even stay in the US if they could cross easily.  They would come up during harvest seasons.
