So, on the Troll Scale this is a four, but more likely a three.  Not bad, Zach.  It's certainly better than your other posts.
Rule #1 Don't sweat the small stuff
Rule #2 It's all small stuff.
Rule #3 What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.  Except redheads, they just kill you.

Why don't you tell us? This is supposed to be a discussion, right? Tell us what you think. I'm not going to guess what you are trying to get at - and I have no idea.

What did the US do to control OPEC in the 1970's?

What did the US do to control OPEC in the 1970's?

The US economy was in stagnation in the 1970’s Nixon took the US offnthe gold standard thus making the US more economically viable.

The US decided to import more oil from the OPEC nations

The Yom Kippur war required Nixon to support the Jews.

The Arabs raised  the price of oil to $5 a barrel a increase of 70% as a protest.

The US decided to allow itself and Western Europe to go into a massive economic recession.

The West suffered but the OPEC countries revenue plummeted.

What did the US do?

It backed regimes in Iraq and Iran and invested in massive oil product in said countries.

The British opened up North Sea oil fields (higher quality oil than the rest….fact)

The British economy is funded by US loans from the IMF…FACT

The African members of OPEC sided with the US. (Nigeria)

OPEC now does as it is told and gets lots of money from the Western economies.

Bidens masters have now decided to go along to Enviromental holocaust route to hoodwink the stupid liberal rich masses into not using fossil fuels.

They have a new compliant controllable population in India and China.

You and yours are surplus to requirement.

Democracy is a hinderance to your masters you voted for Orange man bad who wanted to bring back economic production to the US citizen.

Do you think Clinton and her masters would allow that?

Bend the knee and put your masks on and save the polar bears

You suckers

The petro dollar was established in place of gold

All oil purchases were required to be done in $$$$ making it the reserve currency

Numerous wars were waged to keep that agreement

We are losing that status now as multiple countries sell oil without the conversion to dollars

It's why they are raising rates now trying to strengthen it as printing trillions in funny money has devauled it.

Once the reserve currency is gone so is the United States

Interesting fact... how large is a trillion?

In seconds it is almost 32,000 YEARS!

As the human population continues to grow and pandemics, and famine increase in frequency as a result, electrical power demand is accelerating. Petroleum burning for electricity is over. We have to stop altering the atmospheric composition. The only real option is nuclear power, the sooner society gets over its irrational phobia of fission power and faces that inevitable reality the better. Modern nuclear power plants are far removed from the antique plutonium/u235 nuke plants the world is currently using.

Is the waste from these newer reactors manageable? I'm genuinely curious

My thoughts as well.

Germany is shutting down all of it's nuclear plants and France has only half now. I think the problem is the waste, but also the inevitable corrosion and messy cleanup of old plants.
I may be wrong- I am no expert.

The potential for disaster or war and these things taking damage must be considered as well.

Nuclear waste never goes away. At least practically speaking.

I read a little about the pros and cons of nuclear energy.

One con is that they say nuclear plants store the waste on site for the most part and that it has to be stored and maintained for 200,000 years. Well beyond the life of a plant. The more waste spread all over the place over time and the more likely that it will get into the environment - ground or water.

The cost of mining uranium is another. It's not carbon neutral.

Plants take 15-18 years to be built and brought online.

On shore wind farms take 5 years to build and they are lower cost per KW than nuclear.

A lot of countries are phasing nuclear power out in favor of solar and wind farms.

If it was economically feasible it would already be done..

But it isn't and has to be propped up by making oil and nat gas so much more expensive to use by economy killing policies this bunch has shoved down our throat

There are countries that are essentially all renewable energy at this point. Hardly a pipe dream.
