Megadrought may be the main weather concern across the West right now amid the constant threat of wildfires and earthquakes. But a newClimate change is increasing the risk of floods that could submerge cities and displace millions of people across the state, according to a study released Friday.

It says that an extreme monthlong storm could bring feet of rain – in some places, more than 100 inches – to hundreds of miles of California. Similarly unrelenting storms have happened in the past, before the region became home to tens of millions of people. study warns another crisis is looming in California: "Megafloods."

Now, each degree of global warming is dramatically increasing the odds and size of the next megaflood, the study says.

When floods hit in a warmer planet, “the storm sequence is bigger in almost every respect,” said Daniel Swain, UCLA climate scientist and co-author of the study, in a news release. “There’s more rain overall, more intense rainfall on an hourly basis and stronger wind.”

I remember the ice age predictions in the very late 60's and early 70's. I wasn't too worried as I live in the desert SW. You can only cry wolf so many times before you are no longer taken as anything but chicken little and IMO we reached that stage back in the 90's.

Believing in climate change is a good way to lose some liberties and another way to tax each and everyone of us.  Climate change may well be true.  Over the millions of years climate changed on its' own.  So is climate change real?  Could be naturally.  Scaring the hell out of people is a good way to help an agenda and also make money as well as enacting legislation what will take away some liberties.

Could Climate change be real?  Could be.  If so how drastic will it be?  Predicting our daily weather is difficult at best.  I doubt anyone alive can predict accurately.

As past predictions have been hugely inaccurate this may well be the same.  I guess I'll wait and see.  Remember.........don't believe the sky is falling. There certainly be people waiting in line to profit from this one way or another.  They are forming a line already. Use common sense in all cases and remember past predictions of years gone by.

I however wish to live long enough to see dragon fly's with 6 foot wingspans.  It would be easy enough to make them into drones.
