highest tax rate but most people don't pay that.  50k in Georgia tax is the same as somebody in california making 85k. look it up.

my base salary back when I used to work was 56k, state tax rate of 2.5. Georgia 5%. now tell me how taxes are killing me.

semp

Regular folks in Texas pay more tax than Cali.

Now if you're stinking rich, Texas is a better deal (looking at you Joe Rogan).

Toxic, psychotic, self-aggrandizing drama queens simply aren't worth me spending my time on.

you just looking at state taxes not all taxes.  you guys have no state tax, California does.  it doesn't mean your taxes are lower.  it just means no state tax, but the state needs money to function so they stick it to them in other ways.

I guess...  If you want to take some website's word for it.  But semp has real-world anecdotal stories from himself and others in his non-contributing circles.

I can cherry pick which taxes to add like they did.

semp

Yup that's some cherry pickin...

To determine the residents with the biggest tax burdens, WalletHub compared the 50 states across the three tax types of state tax burdens — property taxes, individual income taxes and sales and excise taxes — as a share of total personal income in the state.

Please enlighten us with your vast knowledge of taxes.

because it takes total numbers. for example california has twice the number of millionaires as Texas, also 10 million more people.  unless I'm mistaken and please correct me if I'm wrong, that's what they did.

so total numbers are misleading a bit.  but if you take the average Joe on a salary of 50 or 60k, numbers might be different.

Let's look at everyday BS.

CALIFORNIA
Sales Taxes
State Sales Tax: California’s state sales tax is 7.25%. Local district taxes increase the tax owed by a seller, ranging from 0.10% to 1.00%. Given that some areas have multiple district taxes, the sales tax can be confusing. You can look up California sales tax by address to research rates.
California charges an annual vehicle license fee of 0.65% of the purchase price, reduced for the first 11 years of ownership.
Gasoline Tax: 80.87 cents/gallon (Includes all taxes)
Diesel Fuel Tax: $1.06/gallon (Includes all taxes)
Cigarette Tax: $2.87/pack of 20

TEXAS
Sales Taxes
State Sales Tax: 6.25% (groceries and prescription and over-the-counter drugs exempt); local taxes add up to an additional 2% for a total 8.25% sales tax.
Gasoline Tax: 38.4 cents/gallon (Includes all taxes)
Diesel Fuel Tax: 44.4 cents/gallon (Includes all taxes)
Cigarette Tax: $1.41 dollars/pack of 20

you still didn't correct my cherry picking statement.  for the average Joe doe taxes would probably be the same as Texas.
