Yeah, I often wished the fields could have actual names on the maps.   Sorta like the actual street names they used to have for roads in the towns.  Weren't there actual signposts with street names on them?

Oboe and JimmyD well done!  To an old history freak this is one I've been waiting for, for many years.  Your work is outstanding.  There aren't many of us WWII history fans left in the game anymore.

It (the air war over Europe and PAC) is a passion of mine.  8h Air Force especially. To be exact Jug Squadrons, the 56th, 78th, 348th FG etc.  I logged into the main to see the new map and was pleasantly surprised!

Haven't got up yet but will do so in the future.  We old junkies fly Scenarios because of the history.  Many like myself don't appear in the MA anymore.  When the game began most of the people participating weren't gamers, just people interested in the combat in the sky during WWII. Society changes.  Memories or lack of interest in subjects seem to fade with time.

Thank you, both of you for your efforts!!

Hi Stepsis.   I agree your rig should be plenty powerful to keep the frame rates decently high.

IIRC, the problem with frame rates in the CraterMA terrain is related to the 'huge' field types.  There are several of these and I can verify frame rate drops when around these fields.  We purposely left this field type off the terrain for this reason.   Is it possible the frame rate drop-offs are related to cloud systems?   Or is it crappy across the whole map, no matter where you are?

It might be worth experimenting - when you encounter the frame rate dips, quick change your graphic settings to the absolute minimum and see if that has any effect.   If its related to specific locations, you could load the map in Offline Practice and see if you experience the same drops when playing offline.

Vraciu - I assume your country is the Eastern power?  It sounds like your breakout from the Black Sea into the Ionian Sea generated a lot of fights!   The Southern country really has no choice but to throw everything they can to defend against this breakout, since a CV fleet running unchecked through the Eastern Med would expose the South's strat targets to naval shelling.

There are 3 naval chokepoints on this map - between the Black Sea - Eastern Med, between the Mediterranean Sea and the N. Atlantic, and between the Baltic and North Seas.   While they 'landlock' the Eastern power's fleets, they should also make it difficult for either of the other two powers to project sea power against the East country's rear area.  The Eastern country has the most secure strats I think, being relatively spread out over a large land area, while the NW country's strats are concentrated in England and Ireland.

Am I understanding correctly now when this map is reset, it comes right back up in the rotation?   I hope the Knights, Rooks, and Bishops are getting assigned to different country locations when a reset happens.

Thanks Citabria, Shuff, Eagler - glad it made it in and anxious to see how it plays out in the MA over several cycles.  Hopefully the strengths/weaknesses of the different country locations cancel each other out and one country won't emerge as a weak sister to the other two locations.

So my frame rate seems to drop significantly when I’m looking at the terrain itself. Everything is fine over water. Seems lots of mountains also causes drops. Lol I’m tempted to just upgrade to a 3090 and tell everyone Not to expect Christmas gifts lol

Very nice to have I-16 and Brewster enabled at some of the non-airfields.  Thanks for that.

Is it true that BB Groups do not set off base flashing?   I saw the southern country send a BB Group into the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland, shelling strats on both sides.   (I tried to man a gun and help but I really don't get how to aim the big guns using the map - I brought up the clipboard, clicked on a target, fired the gun, and the round splashed into water about 100 yds from the ship)

Anyway, I dont recall the strats flashing while the BB group sailing through the passage.  And the Bishops didn't seem to be reacting to the threat.

Is the BB supposed to make a base flash?

I dont think any of the ships make a base flash, except the PT boats. Thats why so many players cry when they are trying to sneak a CV in close some guy will launch and get the base flashing as soon as they spawn on to the deck.

For stationary targets push and hold SHIFT then Q. Then click the map. Zoom map first.
For boats push and hold CTRL then Q.
And steering w joystick.
For release push Q, or just end sortie.

Just wondering if info like this is avaible in game anywhere?

Not that I gun but I wasn't aware you could do that

What button changes the round type? Is it the same for all gun types?

Hmm, that strikes me as a problem.   Enemy ships within gun range should really make bases flash - especially when they are lobbing shells into bases and strats.    There should be some way to alert players of a side that a strat is being attacked by the enemy...
