I love the idea of getting veteran players out of the easy mode planes, but a competition like this isnt going to do much. It may interest a few of the better players to give it a go, but many of these players that use the monsters of AH do so because that the only way they know how to get kills. They know they havent got a chance against the really skilled players.

I agree 100%, Fugi.  I love the idea, but I think it will do nothing but turn into a pissing match and cry/moan fest because the same handful of guys will participate due to time availability and the same guys "winning."

Exactly. There is no way to level the playing field so that the less skilled players could have a chance.

You could pay the top 3.  But I guess that's besides the point.  I don't see enough support for the idea by itself.  That tells me there would be almost 0 support to fund it, therefore no reward to participate.

I thought the idea would both maybe get people into more mid and early war planes, and maybe add some spice to the arena and make it more interesting.

Personally I think the negatives points brought up previously are far less negative than an arena full of 500mph tempest.

In theory it's a great idea.  Would have been really fun when the arenas were more populated.

I think there's a big reason why the Spitfire gets over 3k kills more than a 109k in our current tours. Most kills last tour of any plane. and a 1.4 k/d last tour, which is pretty high for that plane...

The K4 usually gets a better K/D as it's a little easier to stay alive not getting tied up turn fighting, but its much harder to get kills in overall due to 1 cannon vs the spits amazing cannons and 50s, and takes a lot more ACM understanding to be successful in it over the spit16 due to views and plane flap handling. The spit16 still pretty easily out maneuvers the 109 in a turn stall fight given the same relative E but a good pilot can make it very close.

I'd perk the spit16 10 perks.  Its a nice plane that does everything well.  Great at fighting against the odds.  I use it quite a bit.

If I'm fighting solo against numbers, especially at low alt, it's my go to.

I'm already at a disadvantage #'s wise, why put myself down even more with a mediocre plane.

Because this whole post was your idea? Maybe?  :noid

Because seeing more of these mid/early war planes in the air would lessen the need for an Uber ride to compete against.

I think you'd find the pool fairly small and not as much an impact as hoped, but fun for those involved, sure.

I think one month Eagler chose non-late war rides as a challenge to us and a few did participate - forget which tour.

It's about all one can do..make the change themselves

I will use the g2 and f4 instead of the k4 starting now through February..

Any other takers?

Now if we could only get ZE out of his brew....  :joystick:
