Awesome work! Nice job!
True!Who makes a Devastator kit?- oldman
Well, finished another one recently. A 1/32 scale TBD-1 Devastator. Finished in the colors of Commander Waldron who led Torpedo Squadron 8 at Midway. Before you say anything about the meatballs on the bottom of the wings, I have some backup. T-16 was a backup aircraft. He typically would have flown T-1, but that aircraft was damaged. Replacement aircraft were hung from the hangar deck and I have read some instances of the replacements not having the meatballs painted off. The bottom of the wing would have been in so close to the ceiling that they were not painted out.You can see this on John Ford's movie that he made of Torpedo Squadron 8 for a few of the aircraft. I chose to go this route as it seems logical and likely.I also changed out the rear gunner weapon. Before they left, Waldron raided the Dauntless squadron for the twin .50s, and I was able to find a resin print for that. Nicely done! I really need to get back into this. Probably have way over a hundred unbuilt kits. Had to buy a couple of the Tamiya P-38s! Figured when I actually retired I would get to them. Hasn't happened yet. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
