Virtual Reality Headset Recommendations
« on: March 25, 2025, 03:50:24 PM »
I have searched diligently to find posts in regards to this subject without success. Do they work well for AH, and if so, I would sincerely appreciate any make / model recommendations.

There’s an entire forum dedicated to VR.

Hope that helps.

Aces High works VERY well in VR. I have use a Quest 2 with out issue. One of the best things about AH and VR is you can still use the AH view system, so you can hit the "left view" button and only need to turn your head 90% to look back around the tail. Saves your neck.

I think all VR headset will work in AH, price and computer power are your limitations. Quest2, Quest 3, and Pimax Crystal light are the 3 I saw in the VR thread off the top. There may be more listed in the threads.

Upgraded from the original vive pro to the crystal light..

The clarity is outstanding!

I suggest the crystal light with at least a 4070 card so you can enjoy vr in other games in addition to AH

I've used the Quest, it was a cool experience and I enjoyed flying with it, but I felt that it limited my performance drastically. Even though I still used the view system to look around I felt like I had very little situational awareness and it was harder to hit things.

I wish I could throw a legitimate 2 pennies into this. Unfortunately,I get violently ill after a few minutes of VR. I've tried it many times to no avail. I've tried with and without glasses, contacts, all types of games and virtual environments.....I've even tried 4mg of Ondansetron on 3 occasions. I've tried Scopolamine patches too, I spew like a monkey drinking warm banana daiquiris trying to recover from a hangover from bourbon chased by Tequila.
I'm glad you fellas can manage it, I'm jealous of course but I'm glad you enjoy it as someday it will lead to a cure for pansies like me as the market will have to expand.

Put a small fan on your desk pointing at you. It helps as it fools your brain into thinking you are moving. Also do short stints as you get started. 5 minutes the first time, 10 the next and so on.

I felt like I was going to be sick the first few times. Had to actually lay down afterward. Start with 2 minutes take a break. After a week it has never reappeared

Same for me when I started VR I couldn't go more then 10-15 minutes. Took me a week or two to get used to it. If you enjoy it I'd start with shorter durations or maybe try the fan or both.

Thanks Fugi, and others. The fan trick sounds like a really good idea and I'll give it a whirl. I didn't try it for any more than 15 minutes or so but I'll work my way up from 5 minutes I guess and go from there.

Try this stream game in vr for a bit...

https://store.steampowered.com/app/587220/Jet_Island/

..it's using a hover type skateboard with Spiderman like shooting webs to get you around..

This game stills upsets my equilibrium if I play it too long in vr

A little bit of time in this game might make AH vr easier to get used to

A friend also had his wife watch on the monitor. She would hit him in the head with a frying pan when he got shot to add realism. Helped him get over being sick and she seemed to enjoy it too.
