Yes indeed a MB and CPU is the way to go Fugi.  Beware on intel if you are going to over clock.  Make sure you update your MB bios before attempting to OC.  Intel overestimated the chips ability to handle increased voltage.  MB makers included increasing voltage in original bios.  Lots of intels cpu bit the dirt when OC.  New bios for MB lower the OC voltage.

Number of cores.  Not sure about AH but it's age suggest limited use of multiple cores.  However many modern games do use multiple cores.

OK, Im doing a full rebuild. The only thing coming over from my old box is the video card and one or two sata HDs. Heres what I have...

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6 core CPU

Asus PRIME B650-plus WIFI ATX AM5 mother board

Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-6000 ram

Acer Predator GM7000 1TB M.2-2280  solid state drive

Darkrock Classico case

Win11 64bit

Got it for $600 and should all be here by this weekend. Of course I have been working on consolidating my drives, making lists of which programs I "need" and which I "want" and which I dont have to bother with. Getting all passwords and licenses together and so on. Man I hate this!!!!   :D

All of that also means I have had to put my videos on hold. I hope it all goes smoothly and Im up and running on the new box soon.

Thanks for the help/tips !

WOW.
You're along those "if it ain't broke don't fix it!... You have right now a kick arse box with what I don't see anywhere there that you really need to improve. YOU HAVE A KILL ER core with a bunch of RAM, and OMG, LOL, I would DIE to make this box I have right here closer to the one you have!

You know already the obvious answer to not scimping on your CPU. I did and that is the bottle neck of mine and anyone else's computer a kick arse one!

Joe, I'm basically going in the same direction.

I went with the Ryzen 5 7600x,

Thermalright Burst Assassin 120 EVO DARK cooler,

MSI B650m wifi Mortar mobo,

Silicon Power ddr5-6000, 32 GB ram,

TeamGroup MP33 1TB M.2 drive

I'm going to put in my Phantek Eclipse P300A Mesh, EVGA 750 GT psu, and PowerColor 7900 GRE, from my current system.

I put a new power cable on my Compaq suitcase. I think it's faster now.

Well its up and running. It went pretty smoothly. I have a few minor issues with my home network and outdated hardware. It sucks that you take care of your stuff and it becomes obsolete!

HP lazerjet printer no longer supported by HP nor win11.
Intous4 drawing pad, no longer supported by wacom nor win11.
Owned Photoshop CS5, no longer supported by Adobe, wont recognize the serial number of the software, or my logins.

Ive foud a couple of work arounds and got the printer working on my computer, but not through the network. The same with the drawing pad. Next up is the video making stuff....<crossing Fingers>

I am happy other wise. Loads in the blink of an eye on boot up as well as starting programs. Click the icon and its running.

Pretty much the same power im running at with a 5800x and a 2080ti. Havent found a reason to upgrade yet, holds up very well in 2k or VR for anything I have tried. Hoping to get another year or two out of it. Best 2021 Jan purchases ive ever made, got it all back then and put it together for about 850 with used parts and a Rog Hero Viii

This build cost me just over $600, but I did use my video card from the old box. The old box lasted over 13 years with only adding some ram and a new video card, so Im ok with that.

I love building new machines. I don't often build new ones for myself, but I do for or with friends from time to time. Will be building three new machines for the shop pretty soon. They will be rather mundane as they will be more for data entry. Nothing heavy at all.

I miss those long gone cheap Fry's combo sales. Seems I read there was a scandal over those with the company losing money on them. Had to return a lot of stuff but there was never a problem with them refunding bad stuff. I see ECS Elitegroup is still in business.

My build has been up for a little more than a week. Runs AH with no issues. I did have some concerning cpu temps when I was running DCS. It hit 95c on the package, and I freaked.

Undervolted the cpu, and was able to increase the boost clock to 5.5 GHz while maintaining 80c ish on the cpu.

I ended up spending just around $600, for:

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

MSI MAG B650M Mortar WiFi mobo

TEAMGROUP MP33 1TB SLC Cache 3D NAND TLC NVMe 1.3 PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 drive

G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB

Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 cooler

I used my existing case, gpu, and psu.

I'm able to maintain 165 fps in both AH and DCS on a 34" 1440 monitor under most circumstances.

I'm very happy with the build.  :x

Nice!  I find the load times of programs amazing. Going to add all my video editing software tomorrow. Some of the render times were pretty long, cant wait to see it now.  :x
