Wow I didn't know that this was even a thing. What does the law say about reloading supplies over there in Commieville? Was possessing ammo also against the law if you couldn't buy it at the time? I assume it was. That's not freedom in my eyes. SMH

We keep our brass and a buddy of mine reloads our rounds for us. I seen a long time ago that ammo would be a backdoor to regulate and control.

None of my friends in the peoples' republik of kalifornica are big into shooting or relaoding, although a couple would like to be, so I can't tell you about specifics. But the laws in general are absolutely draconian.

I recall many moons ago before many of the current laws went into effect when I lived in CA that I looked into purchasing a handgun. I was looking for some cheap tackle box kinda thing. As I recall I would have had to go to some state specific class that I had to pay for and I had to pay for a state background check in addition to the federal one, and then I could only choose something from "state approved" list and that the prices were close to twice as much as they were around the rest of the country. It was one of the final straws that made me decided to move to Texas.

Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I wish health care was as easy to get as, say, a gun.

When I was young most didn't have health insurance. Routine care was affordable. Now you get fined if you don't pay for unaffordable insurance. College was a lot more affordable then too. What happened in those industries? Unrestrained greed?

It is if you work.  I've got great coverage and access to the same doctors wealthy Canadians seek out when they need more complicated procedures done.

Texas is reportedly going to give college students the right to carry guns on campus. So I guess that next semester, every college student in Texas is getting straight A's.

The federal government became heavily involved in both.

There is nothing that the federal government cannot make more expensive, less efficient, less effective, and less desirable.

The "affordable care act" made health insurance ten times more expensive in less than ten years.

It took longer for college tuition, but tuition is more than ten times as high as it was when I went. Now less than 50% graduate, and less than 50% who do, get a job requiring a degree.

The on campus sexual assaults and rapes will plummet too. And they're not going to let folks run loose with guns like you're tryin to imply. There will be rules. C'mon man  :salute

Yep, the total cost of what I pay and my major multinational employer pays for my wife and I exceeds $1000 a month, not counting my HSA contribution. And since the "affordable care act" now the IRS controls what your deductible is, and ours is $7200. And we have to argue to get coverage. They steadfastly refuse to pay for medication for my wife, which would prevent her from eventually developing diabetes, hypertension (she's nearly there), and kidney/liver disease, which will actually cost them millions over her lifetime. I suppose they hope she either dies young, or is no longer covered due to me retiring, r the company changing carriers.

What does one have to do with the other?

Absolutely nothing at all.

When I hear that Texas, or another state is a "right to carry" state I think, "aren't they all?"

When I hear that Texas, or another state is a "right to carry" state I think, "aren't they all?"

Every state should at the very least be a "shall issue" state, meaning if a law abiding citizen with no criminal record applies for a concealed carry permit, then law enforcement "shall issue" said permit, or show true cause as to why, and, if overturned by the court, then law enforcement is subject to discipline.

Constitution based open carry is absolutely what should be the law of the land. However, I have always either been commissioned, or had a permit. I don't open carry, it makes you a target.
